A Whole Lotta Sparkle!

I don't think I will ever tire of using the SU set Lovely As A Tree. For this card I stamped the main image in Chocolate Chip and then added the little pines from a very old SU set called Scenery in Hunter Green.

The image was then run through a Xyron image side down so that glitter could be added. I did the same with the 3 embellishment images.

The images were matted with cs (CC and HG) and then layered onto some SU DSP (called Ski Slope, maybe?)

There is a whole lotta sparkle coming off this card, which made it difficult to photograph, but is so lovely IRL!

The sketch was one I saw featured on a blog last week; didn't note which one.

"Joe Jitters"

I'm posting a silly card today. The sentiment is computer generated. The coffee beans are from Espress Yourself (SU!)

I read it on a sign in a coffee/pie shop when we were up north a couple of weeks ago. I knew immediately that I had to make a card with these words. Then on the same trip I saw a billboard advertising a different coffee shop called "Joe Jitters".

Well I took these sightings as a sign that this card and post title were meant to be. (BTW, I'm a tea drinker! LOL!)

Sweet Dreamers' Challenge

One of our members on the SCS blogging group Sweet Dreamers had a baby girl this week. Our challenge was to make a card welcoming the sweet little one into the world.

My offering is a monochromatic card in shades of orange from very pale peach to a deeper muted hue.

The card is embellished with button brads along with real buttons. Fun flock was used on the bunny's tail and cheek. A tiny satin ribbon is snuggled in behind the bunny's head.

Plant Kindness...Harvest Love

The sentiment for this card is a stamp by Inkadinkadoo, which I've had for a long time. The fall images at the bottom are from the SU set Autumn Harvest.

The card base is More Mustard with a layer of So Saffron, then strips of Juntos DSP. This sketch was from one of my Yahoo groups for a recent swap.

Teal and Brown

A color challenge was the inspiration for this card. Although when photographed the Chocolate Chip looks more like black, and the color Taken With Teal is off as well.

This quick and easy card sketch is one of my go to favorites.

The image is from the SU set Just Celebrate. The flocked flowers were placed over the stamped ones, and teal brads are in the centers. Simple and sweet!

Happy Birthday Amanda!

This is the front view of an easel birthday card for my DD. For cs I used Riding Hood Red, Pretty In Pink, and White. The three patterns of DSP are from the Bella Rose pkg.

I paper pieced the cupcake from Crazy for Cupcakes with DSP and white cs which was embossed with the Cuttlebug folder Divine Swirls.

Red beads were adhered to the "frosting" with Crystal Effects, and the candle features a tear drop shaped rhinestone brad. The image sits atop three layers of cs and is popped up with foam tape over three strips of velvet ribbon.

The front is propped up against a layered scalloped circle which is popped up on the bottom of the base. It is adorned with two brads (cupcake and glitter heart) and the birthday sentiment from the C4C stamp set.

Behind the card front on the base is a gift card held in place using the slit punch on cs.

Birthday Easel

This is a card I made for my DD's BF whose birthday is close to the end of the month. He doesn't come here, so it is safe to post!

This was an old card front I had (as evidenced by the magic mesh!). I pulled the main image off and then embossed the front with the Leafy Branch Cuttlebug folder. Then I popped the main image up with foam tape and replaced it on the front.

The bottom of the base has some DSP (Juntos) and a strip of cs stamped with Happy Birthday from SU's Birthday Whimsy set.

Two fall brads were added to the strip to give the card front something to prop itself against, so it would stand open.

There is a gift card on the inside of the card base (behind the card front) held in place onto cs with the slit punch.

Grateful Hearts

This is a card using many of my favorites.
The sentiment stamp from Art Impressions is one of my all time favorites.
The leaf is from an old SU set called Autumn, also a favorite of mine.
And I believe the heart accent stamp is from Hero Arts.

Copper, black and creamy white pulls it all together.

I can hardly believe that there are no 3D embellishments on this card!

My First Easel card

I titled this my first easel card because I plan on making many more! What a fun card to make and now I have many theme ideas swimming in my head!

I used one of my old card fronts for this one. I updated the image by adding Cinnamon Stickles to the flower center and used glitter pens to outline the petals, stem, and leaf.

For the easel base I used Old Olive cs cut to 4 1/4 x 11. I scored at 5 1/2 and 2 3/4. I added some DSP to the 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 section, and then a row of buttons and another chipboard flower with a button center.

The card front was 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and was adhered to the lower 2 3/4 section of the base. It does fold up to an A2 size card, but the row of buttons helps to hold the card front up when displayed. I'm sure a single button or embellishment would also work, but I was feeling generous with my buttons today!

I have a couple of birthday cards to make this weekend and am thinking about making easel cards. I'll post them if they are blog worthy (or not!).

Sweet Dreamers' Color Challenge

The challenge for this week on the the SCS blogging group Sweet Dreamers was to use the colors Real Red, Garden Green, and Crushed Curry. I tamed the colors by using a Kraft cs base and also using some Chocolate Chip ink to distress the edges.

The card design is the October sketch from one of my Yahoo groups; Happy_Stampers.

The stamp is from one of my all time favorite SU sets called All The Best, retired of course! I was in a bit of a panic because I couldn't locate it on my shelf right away. But life is good again since it has been found!

How do you organize your boxed stamps sets?

Mine are grouped on shelves by category, then in alphabetical order by box size. This system works for me as long as I can remember what size box I am looking for!

Card Sketch for TheRubberInker

This is the October card sketch for TRI, a Yahoo Group in which I belong. It is a tri-fold card of sorts and looks almost like the sketch we were to use. (If you close one eye and stand on your head. Go ahead, I'll wait!)) -

It was supposed to have a curvy edge cut into the front of the card and I just couldn't get it to look right in my eyes. So after several unsuccessful attempts, I kept the edge straight and moved the circles out to appear as if it has a curve! Yes, I know I will be busted when the recipient opens the card, but I just won't answer my email!

Halloween Nugget Tin

I know, nugget tins are last years news, but I like making them for the Paras that help some of the students in my classroom.

On the clear window I used an SU rub on from a year or two ago. (I do buy current merchandise, but tend to save it for a year or two before use. Why? Beats me!)

I used Martha's drippy punch for the Green Galore cs goo at the top of the box, which also has a rub on border that says "Sweets . Treats"

The DSP strip wrapped around the tin is the same paper used to wrap the nuggets. (Yes, it's SU paper, must be older than the hills, as it is only one sided!)

Green and white striped grosgrain ribbon is layered onto the orange strip and has a stamped tag hanging from it with orange satin ribbon. The GG layered tag is from the SU stamp set Eat, Drink, & Be Scary

Inside the bottom of the tin is white cs embossed with a Halloween cuttlebug folder.

A Holiday Bag and Matching Cards

I'm drawn to containers of all sorts: bags, baskets, boxes, cans, cubbies, drawers, jars, tins, zippered cases...you get the idea.

So when I recently purchased an "unmentionable" and it came in this clear, flexible, plastic snap, handled bag, I was so excited! ( I know, how pathetic does that sound? I need a life!)

I traced the product insert onto some retired SU holiday DSP and swapped out the packaging for the pretty paper. I tied a length of ribbon (saved from another purchase) onto the cut out handle. Then I found some extra Christmas cards from last year that matched the colors and patterns, and for now, I tucked one of the cards into the front of the bag between the DSP and clear plastic.

I'm not sure how I am going to use this bag yet. It will either become a gift bag for the holidays, or it will hold a set of holiday cards and envelopes.

(Sorry about the weird shadows in the photo. It was either shadows or glare on the plastic bag.)

CraftyCardCreations October Sketch

CCC is a Yahoo Group I belong to and I always sign up for the card sketch swaps. This one is for October.

I started using the SU set Gently Falling and stamped it in Chocolate Chip ink onto Really rust cs. Then I used my MM Tag Maker and framed the image in a red glitter square frame. This sparkly piece was then layered onto three layers of cs cut with nestabilities labels one. This multi-layered main piece was then added to a top fold More Mustard card base.

At the bottom of the card base I stamped, punched and layered three images from the SU set Falling Leaves.

A perky plaid ribbon was knotted in the middle of the card

P/L: A Personal Challenge

Purple and lavender are not my "go to" colors, especially in the fall! But I joined a swap and had to follow the color rules. I put off making a card using these colors for as long as possible. In fact, I am probably late now in mailing the swap out on time. (I apologized to the person waiting for said card)

Deets for this card include: CS: all SU: Lavender Lace, Almost Amethyst, Perfect Plum, and Whisper White.

Stamps: all SU: Garden Silhouettes, Circle of Friendship.

Misc: purple staples, purple striped grosgrain ribbon, two shades of purple Flower Soft

Clean, simple and now also checked off on my stamping To Do List!

Sketch #19

On Scrapbooking and Crafting Friends, I recently joined a group called Friday Sketch. This is the current sketch #19.

The main image is SU from a set called Gently Falling, stamped on Really Rust cs with Chocolate Chip ink. The sentiment is from Endless Creations, also stamped with CC ink and then layered with several punched pieces.

The DSP is called Juntos from the SU Spanish catalog, wich was torn and distressed with CC ink.

The card base is More Mustard and other cs colors used are: Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, and Always Artichoke.

Fall brads and two More Mustard brads were used as well.

Oh, I almost forgot to mention the yummy brown felt ribbon (SU) and the "piece de resistance" a brown glittered square frame used with the MM Tag Maker!

Ladies, Ink October Challenge

The challenge for this month on the SCS blogging group Ladies, Ink was to make a card using one color of ink, one embellishment, and only one layer. now don't take this as whining or complaining (although I am good at both!), but this card was a real challenge for me! It took me longer to make this card than many of the typical cards I make. Not complaining, just saying!

So the deets for this card are as simple as the card looks. Image from SU set Big Blooms. Ruby Red ink. Naturals Ivory cs base. Wide, striped grosgrain ribbon.
