Feeling Groovy!

 While blurfing recently I repeatedly came across cards where the stampers featured one large bloom on their cards.  Well I was certainly impressed again and again, so had to give it a try myself.  The bloom from Looks Like Spring has always been a favorite of mine, so that was a given.  I paged through my image notebook and came upon the stem from Fifth Avenue Floral, whose simplicity was just what I was looking for to complement the simple bloom.

The colors of the card came together as I spotted a piece of DSP from the Darling Doodles package in my so-called filing system (AKA a big ol' cardboard box).  So with PTI white as the base of the top fold card, I then layered with Purely Pomegranate, DSP, a layer of Terracotta colored vellum , more PP and then Whisper White cs with the bloom stamped in Groovy Guava and the stem in Wild Wasabi.

The largest coordinating button I could find centers the flower and is tied on with scrapper's floss.  Three white brads mimic the dots on the DSP.

Oh Sweet Pea!

Punches and Polka Dots

The theme for today's swap card is polka dots.  I've been on this same color combo kick for awhile now, enjoying the fun colors in the Sweet Always DSP.  The Whisper White panel was embossed with the SU dots folder, but then turned to the debossed side, before adhering to the Chocolate Chip layer.  Four sizes of SU circle punches were used for this card, as well as, a Martha Stewart chrysanthemum punch.  The sentiment is from the SU set Stem Sayings and is accented with a tiny layered felt flower. Brads embellish the flower centers.

Sage Shadow

 

 Sage Shadow is one of my favorite colors, so soothing to the eye, but I often forget to use it.  I put it to great use on this card though!
The card base is PTI ivory, topped with a DSP layer in Sage Shadow from the Enchante collection.  A piece of SS is also peeking from behind the Close To Cocoa layer, which was stamped in SS using an image from Pocket Silhouettes.  The curly label punch was used on the CTC layer, so the SS could highlight the sentiment stamped in CTC. The subtly striped ribbon blends the layers together.

So Glad We're Friends!

Do these colors look familiar?  It's the same color combo as the card posted yesterday.  Before putting the package of Sweet Always DSP away, I decided to use three of the patterns for CASEing the card on page 77 in the March 2009 issue of cards.  The sentiment is from the set Best Yet with the "i" in friends dotted with a tiny pink rhinestone.  The same pink bling is adorning the scallops on the Chocolate Chip punched border.  Felt flowers with rhinestone brad centers embellish the trio of Curly Label punchies.  Pink striped ribbon is tied into a bow on the bottom portion of the card.

Serene Spring

 I've been ignoring the winter weather outside my window (yet secretly enjoying being stuck inside to stamp this recent President's Day weekend).  Paging through the March 2009 issue of cards, I came to a halt on page 21 and decided to CASE the spring card shown there.  I pulled out my Serene Spring stamp set and Sweet Always DSP.  Collected and cut coordinating cs in Whisper White, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink and Pumpkin Pie.  Gathered Chocolate Chip ink, pink satin ribbon, pink bling, and a border punch.    Soon I had this sweet little card to post on my blog!

Crafty Critters Challenge #20

 Green is the theme of this challenge.  So I went green in several ways, the obvious being the color  used and the Irish theme.  But I also went green in another way.  The double sided satin ribbon and tag are both recycled from a Bath and Bodywork's Christmas gift!
I added a green petite scalloped Nestie circle to the recycled  tag and added a "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" rub on to the front.
The card base is Green Galore with a twice embossed layer of Gable Green on top.   The top half of the Gable Green layer has tiny light green rhinestones added here and there.  The tag has two darker green rhinestones

Bloomin' Rub Ons!

 Just like yesterday's card, I was drawn to this CAS from the March 2008 issue of cards; page 84.  There is no stamping on this card...gasp!   The beautiful blooms are rub ons with rhinestone bling added to the centers.  Punches and ribbon finish off this black and Melon Mambo card.  I'm so loving this card!

It's Time To Bloom!

 Outside the winter wind is blowing snow around, inside I'm stamping spring flower gardens!
This card is a CASE (copy and selectively edit) of a card on page 47 in the Feb. 2010 issue of cards.  I've been CASEing a lot of cards this snowy, blowy, windy weekend, which I'll be posting all week and maybe even into next!
These three blooms were stamped on Whisper white cs using two SU sets: Seeing Spots in Real Red and All The Best in Garden Green.  I layered the spots with Maya Road flocked flowers and brads, the middle bloom also has a clear button behind the yellow flower.
The sentiment is also SU: Bella's Bloom.
The card base is Real Red with Real Red layer embossed with the dots folder. The black cs layer was punched with the scallop trim border punch.
The stitched red ribbon and bow (from a xmas gift bag) tie it all together!

Another Chocolate Bunny!

For this card I took two ovals and scored one about a half inch down from the top and then attached it to the second one with sticky strip.  Next I covered the front of the egg-shaped card with DSP from a retired SU Simply Sent card kit called Flower Power.  The Chocolate Bunny was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink onto Close To Cocoa cs and then matted onto Whisper White, Rose Red and Perfect Plum cs. (I see that I am in need of some oval Nesties!)
A More Mustard bow dresses Mr. Rabbit up nicely and the bling to match the colored stripes in the DSP gives the entire card some subtle sparkle!

I'm Nuts About You!

Today I combined two challenges into one!  For my Ladies, Ink SCS blogging group we had  Challenge #1 to make a Valentine card without using red or pink, and Challenge #2 was to use a paint chip on a card.   So I came up with this nutty card!  I couldn't get the colors in the photo to match the card IRL, so you may be surprised when you read the details below.

Pink and Brown

The story behind this swap card was to use something from an unopened package.   It seems like I've had this Making Memories suede frame forever, so I finally broke it out of it's package.  The 5/8" pink satin ribbon hadn't seen use yet and neither had the Sending Love epoxy brad, both are SU products.

This is such a yummy looking card IRL.  It was really difficult to send it away!

Bite Me!

 

I hope you are not offended by my post title, but now that you see the card it makes sense...right?
This Chocolate Bunny stamp from SU is destined to be one of my favorite stamps!  Even though this is just ink on paper I am so tempted to bite the ears off this yummy looking chocolate treat!  Of course I'll wait, as I'm sure the real thing will be in stores soon after Valentine's Day.

This card is a 5.5 inch square card and uses Close To Cocoa Prints DSP, Chocolate Chip, Close To Cocoa, Creamy Caramel, and Very Vanilla cs.  Vanilla Taffeta ribbon embellishes the side.

I'm still getting used to the new SU border and matching corner punches, so don't examine too closely!

I need to go in search of something chocolate, before I am ...

Funky Forest

Today's card is for a sketch swap.  Although I'm thinking my card looks nothing like the sketch!  Let's call it creative license on my part!

I often have trouble using patterned paper when the design is so specific, like these trees.  But I think I was able to pull it off using the "Funky Forest" wheel which coordinates with the set "Trendy Trees", which in turn coordinates with this paper pattern from the DSP Sweet Pea Paper Stack.

I'm really liking this cute little card and hope the recipients (had to make two) do too!
