 Hooray!  This is the last of the Basic Gray Porcelain kit cards!  This card is one of my favorites of the set.  Guess I was saving the best for last!

I made several changes to the original directions for assembly:

The lacy print at the bottom of the card was trimmed around the small scallops and tiny holes were punched in the scallops.  Then an ivory scrap of card stock was placed behind the small holes.  Rhinestones were added to the flower centers on the lace print.

I had some green silk leaf ribbon and added a small strip to the green strip at the bottom of the card.

The chipboard flower has some small green rhinestones added to the center.

The 5th Dimension

 This post is so named because of the many layers and levels on this card (but probably the real reason is because I was listening to an oldies music station when making this card and when I was done, a song from this group was playing!  It's amazing how ideas, large and small sneak into the brain cells! )

If you've been stopping by my blog the last several days you'll recognize this card as being one of many using a Basic Gray card kit.  This card is my second to the last (it's okay, go ahead and cheer!) card to post from the Porcelain kit.

I pretty much stuck to the kit directions on this one.  I did sponge the edges of the layers and pieces with Chocolate Chip ink and added rhinestones to the butterflies' antennae. Oh, and I can't forget to mention that I added natural twill layered with a polka dot grosgrain ribbon to the left side and then stuck on a small twill bow too.

Chipboard Bird

This Basic Gray card was altered by adding a Chocolate Chip layer and a Blush Blossom card base.  The chipboard bird has Chocolate Chip sponged edges and a pearl eye.

Metal dots were added to the background. The die cut flowers also have some CC ink sponged around the edges.

 I have an old dictionary with yellowed/torn pages and a worn binding that I re-purposed.  I've been wanting to make these 3D flowers for some time and I finally got around to it!  I love them and hope to be making cards to show them off more often!

After seeing this photo, I'm thinking that maybe a brown corduroy button might have been a better choice for the center.  Sigh!

The patterned papers are Basic Gray, the base of the card is PTI ivory with a Chocolate Chip layer.  Crushed velvet rick rack is behind the "u".

Yep, you guessed it!  Yet another Basic Gray kit card!  (If you've been around my blog for awhile, you know that I tend to post cards in themes or sets!)

As with previous cards, I used the given base as a layer instead.  This time it was sent through the Big Shot with the SU TIF: Perfect Polka Dots.  I used Cameo Coral for the card base.

Another change to the kit design was to add crushed velvet rick rack across the bottom of the card.

This card is much more to my liking than the card in the previous post.

chipboard and bling

 This is my least favorite card from the Basic Gray porcelain greeting card kit.  I'm not sure why I don't like it, but it just annoys me!  So I didn't want to waste too much of my time or supplies for "improvements"!

The only change I made to the original card idea was to add some bling to the center of the chipboard flower.  It helped a little, however I don't see myself mailing this number out to anyone!

This is the second card in a series from the Basic Gray Porcelain greeting card kit.  Again I made some minor changes to the card.  On this card the polka dot layer was originally the card base, but I like to use sturdier cardstock, so I layered the background paper onto Chocolate Chip cs and then put it all on a Kiwi Kiss base.

It needed more embellishments, so I also added three metal dots to the upper right corner.

Looking at this card a day later, I wish that I would have added layers behind the other patterned papers too, for more contrast and definition.

Porcelain Greetings

 Sorry for the lack of posts lately.  I don't usually stamp during the week, as I'm just too exhausted to be creative after a full day with short people.  And then when my weekends are taken from me with out of town commitments, well... my blog suffers (and so do I!).

So I dug out a Basic Gray card kit (for such blogging emergencies), and made this card from the Porcelain Greetings kit contents.

I felt the card bases provided in the kit were just too "wimpy" in weight,  so I added my own layer of Dusty Durango and layered everything onto a Barely Banana card base.  So much better!

I also spruced the card up with some Dusty Durango polka dot grosgrain ribbon.   I feel much better about the card now, and oh so happy to have a new card  to post on my blog this week!

For those of you who stuck with me during this dry stamping spell, thank you so much for your patience!  I won't promise any stamped cards this week, but I do have several more "altered" card kit cards to share with you in the next few days.

Iris Portrait...

 ...is the name of this Hero Arts stamp.   The date on the stamp says 1997, so I've had it for a very long time!  The colors are off quite a bit in this photo, trust me, it looks better IRL!  This card is for a sketch swap.  I put off making this card for the longest time, because I just couldn't "get into' this particular sketch.  But now that I have this card made I'm certain that I'll be using this sketch again.  Funny how that works sometimes!

The two layers of Enchante DSP are not glued down along the top edges, so that the tags can be pulled out to reveal the stamped sentiments.  The row of flat backed adhesive pearls help keep the tags from sliding too far down behind the DSP.  I was thinking on this detail!

Bella's Bloom

Change is good!  A while ago I was on a pink/brown/white color combo kick and now I've changed it to blue/brown/white.   This striped pattern DSP from Afternoon Tea is one of my favorites and I am down to my last bits after hoarding it for so long!

Lady Bug, Lady Bug, Fly Away Home!

Stamps by Whippersnapper were used on this card, along with some SU DSP and Riding Hood Red card stock.  Some of the DSP was pieced onto the ladybug's body.  Rhinestones were added to the antennae and for the eyes.

Not much else to say about this card today, other than the sentiment was stamped on Whisper White and layered to the inside center of the card.  Room was left for a handwritten note for the recipient.
