Purr-fect Sketch

 Here is Miss Purrfect again, but this time on a girly card!  A sketch swap was the inspiration for this card.

 The ribbon is ruffled on either side of the image and the flowers on the top and bottom sides are beads.  I won't use those again on a card that needs to be mailed!

This is my first Halloween-ish card for 2010!  Actually the only true Halloween thing about is the background paper which has words on it like "trick or treat", "boo", etc. Oh, and the JOL button!  Otherwise the cat is too sweet to be scary!  But it's a start!

The "Purrfect" at the bottom of the card is black felt and one of several words on a self-adhesive strip.  I purchased these felt fusion strips made by Queen & Co. from some online store in their clearance section and of course bought a ton because they were...well clearance priced!  (Hey, at least I didn't hoard them for five years before breaking open a package!)

Reverse Prints ATCs

 While I had this stamp set out from making cards shown on this post, I decided to use the images and make ATCs for another swap.

I changed the cardstock colors, the DSP, and used Chocolate Chip Craft ink.  The images dried looking splotchy, but I decided I liked the distressed look!

Circle Circus Sketch #2

Today's card uses the same stamp set as yesterday (Circle Circus), but a different image, sketch, and a different color combo.  SU's DSP prints make it so easy to coordinate papers with ink colors.

It's funny, (strange, not ha-ha) when I need to make a monochromatic card, my mind goes blank, but when I'm just playing around, I can make one!  Go figure!

For my card I used a cute image from Hero Arts, which I paper pieced, using some DSP from SU.  I made a little banner, strung with Scrapper's floss, for Hannah to hold.

These three cards are almost identical, except for the images.  I used an older SU set called Reverse Prints.   I left the sentiments off (see where one would fit so nicely in the bottom portion) until I decide how the cards will be used.

Illuminations Thanks

Smooch Spritz in Vanilla was used on this card.  Although difficult to see in the photo, it was sprayed lightly over the main image panel.  So IRL it has a subtle shimmer.  I'm going to love using this product!

I also love how the pearl flourish on the satin ribbon turned out.  It adds a beautiful finishing touch to this elegant card.

Just Because I Care

 I was in a monochromatic mood when I made this card.  The colors are white and ivory, River Rock, and Soft Suede.

Just like the card posted yesterday, I stamped a flower behind the sentiment.  I really like that look!

This is such a pretty card if I do say so myself!  The colors are mainly Pink Pirouette and Soft Suede, with some Certainly Celery and Ivory for contrast.


I used two Cuttlebug embossing folders for the background layers with twill tape across the middle.  Layered onto the twill tape is some silk stem and leaf ribbon.  A fabric flower blooms at the end.

Not sure if you can see it in the photo, but stamped behind the sentiment is a soft pink bloom.

Polka Dots and Paisley

 

Today's card is a big color change from the last couple of days!  With school starting (me this week, next week for students) I'm getting into the "autumn" color mode on my more recent cards.  I still have several summer cards coming up in posts that will keep those colors alive for awhile longer.

I've always liked the SU stamp set Polka Dots and Paisley, but have always had a hard time using it.   Until I saw this sketch from Christyne at Handstamped From The Heart!   Most every Sunday (hey, she has a real life too!) she provides a sketch for inspiration.  Check out her blog and join us in this week's sketch, won't you?

When I saw Christyne's sketch I knew immediately which stamps I wanted to use and the color combo too!   ( It was almost as if the card almost made itself! )  Then I had fun adding details to the stamped images.  For example, on the polka dot piece I placed some brads on some of the larger dots.  On the paisley piece, I punched out the small dots around the image to let the navy layer show through.  Then I added a brad to the center of the image, and popped this layered piece over the stamped background square.  The Cajun Craze layer was embossed with a paisley embossing folder ( I turned it over to the de-bossed side for this card! ) and brads in sets of three were added to two opposite corners.

Happy Birthday Kristie!

My card is a five inch square.  The DSP I used has some glitter on it, but it's hard to tell by looking at the photo.  The sentiment is a rub on and the flower on the large pink brad is a rub on too.  A rhinestone in the center of the brad adds some sparkle to mimic the glitter on the DSP.

Long and Narrow HB

This long and narrow birthday card is a CASE from the Sept. '09 issue of cards, page 81.

I love how the rub ons look against the dotted striped sage shadow piece of DSP from the Autumn Vine package.

Just as I like to layer papers on cards, I also like to layer flowers.  So this pretty bloom is two silk flowers with a flocked flower in the center, all adorned with a ribbon knot.

 This card was made so I could use up some of the striped ribbon I've had for too long. I also wanted to use those swirly clips since they matched so well to the ribbon.  The three clips at the bottom of the card were attached to the ribbon and green layer with staples. 


The word "friends" is a rub on and was added to the green layer before sending it through the Big Shot with an embossing folder.

 My DD is a nurse (RN) and I love making cards for her.  I only have two nurse stamps, but this one from Wordsworth is my favorite. (If you know of any other sources for fun nurse stamps, please let me know!)

She's been working at a nursing home, but recently interviewed for (and got) a job at a major hospital in her city.  We are so proud of her and she is so very excited!  Well of course this deserved a card at the very least!

G is for...

 This card was sent out a while ago for a Letter "G" swap.  And like most of my cards from this summer, this one was also CASEd.  Page 68 of Just Cards, Fall 2006 gave me the inspiration for this card.

I did some paper piercing on the brown layer behind the square metal tag.

The brads under the sentiment have loops on them where I tied some twine.

 My summer break is coming to an end early next week - boohoohoo!  But I did so much stamping (ahem... CASEing) this summer, that I have cards to post to the end of the month!

Butterfly Trio

The size of this card is unusual for me:  61/2x4.

I used a pre-folded piece of cardstock from  a package of cards with matching envelopes.

So to use up the extra space I did a lot of layering, which I love to do anyway!

There is no stamping on this card - Gasp!  Don't tell the stamping police - I feel guilty enough already!

All three butterflies are popped up with dimensionals.  All three also have a cluster of bling for their bodies!  The brown butterfly has an extra layer

An Opportunity To Embellish...

...or how to cover up a boo-boo or two or three!

Have you ever made a card and then just when it's almost finished you become butter fingers and oops?   Well that's what happened with my card today.  I dropped the stamp and got three spots where they weren't supposed to be!  So I added ribbon to cover one spot and then needed to add the two butterflies to cover up the other two spots.  Sheesh!

Well, I suppose I could have started over, but I already had the flowers in place.  All in all, not a bad save...whew!

Cute Alert!

Is this not just the cutest thing you've seen on my blog in a long time!?!   I am just in love with this little purse and am trying to hold myself back from making a ton more!

Wouldn't some cherry bling look just adorable in the lower corners?  I don't have any or it would be on there now, but I know it is out there, and I will find it!

Sorry I don't have the link to the tutorial so you can have fun making these, but maybe if you use Google  you can find the directions. 

I can give you some sketchy directions and measurements.

Here is a side view of the purse.  I had a red lunch size bag and used that, but any color will do.  I cut the bag 4 inches up from the bottom.  The back piece of card stock is 6 x 5 1/2; scored at 2 inches  The front piece of cs is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.

Two pieces of DSP were cut to 4 x 5 1/4 and the smaller front piece is 1 3/4 x 5 1/4.

Two holes were punched in the back piece of cs right under the score line about an inch in from each edge.  Ribbon is inserted through those holes and taped down to the cs before gluing the paper bag to the cs.

Velcro keeps the purse closed.

This is a close-up of the scalloped  "clasp" .  I layered a circle of DSP and put heart rhinestones on those cherries.  Two metal Classic Clips were added to the corners of the top portion of the folded cs.
