Fright Night and Day

I saw a card on page 40, in the Sept/Oct issue of Paper Crafts that inspired this card.  Since I love bling and I have plenty of it, it was a given to CASE the idea for this card!

One serendipitous  surprise for me was how eerie the two colors of organza ribbon look layered together - perfect for a Halloween card!   The orange adds just a touch of holiday color in this mostly black and white card.

Crystal Effects was added to the spiders eyes ( from SU: Eat, Drink, & Be Scary) to make them bulge in surprise! The sentiment part of the image was colored with an orange marker to coordinate with the ribbon.

Two sizes of Nestabilities  from Labels Four were used for the image and its mat.

SU DSP: Night and Day is layered onto Whisper White and then onto the Crumb Cake card base.

Did you spot the trio of rhinestones in the two lower corners of the card?  I'm sending this card  to my partner for a "Bling It On" swap!

The sentiment at the bottom of this card is difficult to see in the photo.  It reads:

Isn't that fun?  It's one of my favorite Halloween sentiment stamps.  It's from the Lockhart Stamp Co.

I was so excited to use two new punches on this card!  The owl punch from SU and the witch's hat from MS!

The crazy mix of patterned papers come from the SU DSP set: Creepy Crawly.  Can you tell I'm desperate to use my stash of DSP?  Pile it on! LOL!

Cat in a Hat

 There is a card in Paper Creations on page 76, in the Fall 2010 issue, that is the inspiration for this card.

After stamping the main panel, I thought it needed something more...a glittery, purple, witch's hat for the cat!

Then as I was layering the felt flowers, I decided to place a blinged up spider brad in the center.

Both of these fun embellishments were purchased online at Impress Rubber Stamps.  I can always find something unique and fun at this online store.

 This card is a brief intermission from my growing collection of Halloween cards!   I made this card on Saturday following Sketch #16 from WaltzingMouse Sketch Challenge Blog.

I was drawn to the CAS sketch and welcomed the opportunity to use up some scraps of  DSP at the same time!

My card is a 5" square with a River Rock base.   On the Whisper White layer are three strips of Apple Cider DSP, each layered onto coordinating card stock: Really Rust, Chocolate Chip, and River Rock.

A Nestability Fancy Tag frames the simple sentiment from the SU set Small Script.
Layered felt flowers with a rhinestone brad are added to the lower corner.

Bugs and Hisses

The sentiment on this card comes from the SU set Alphabet Soup. It was altered  from Hugs and Kisses to read Bugs and Hisses; more suitable for Halloween cards.  This is not an original idea.  I saw this idea, and used it years ago when this set first came out.

Can you see the cute spooky spider in the corner of the sentiment?  It was a button and I just cut the shank off to make the back side flat for gluing on.

Web Wishes

This card was inspired by a card on page on page 16 of the Oct. 2010 issue of Scrap & Stamp Arts.

I used white craft ink on the spider web embossing folder before inserting the card stock and sending it through the Big Shot.  Oh, and the main reason I CASEd the card was because I loved the idea of black rhinestones placed here and there on the web  - never would have thought of that fun idea on my own!

Haunting Halloween

Coloring with Copics is still a work in progress for me, but I liked how the image turned out well enough to make it into a card!

And those of you who are SU Demos or at least very familiar with the wonderful SU papers, I have told myself (in a very firm voice!) that I cannot buy any new (read current) Halloween (or Christmas) DSP until I have used up all of my older papers first!  (Well we'll have to see how long that resolution lasts!)

On The Fence

The DSP used on this card is one of those pieces in which  I am  never quite sure how to use.  So I decided to use it as a background for a simple Halloween scene on this card.

Even though the bats are not the right size proportionately, I was determined to use my new punch!

House of Haunts

Warning!  My posts for the remainder of this month will be Halloween cards!  I really don't send them out, unless I sign up for a 1-4-1 swap, but I do love to make them!

On the left side of this card, I ruffled some ribbon, but it is difficult to tell from the photo.  The ribbon came with little satin pumpkins and witches sewn on.  The black witches are too hard to see against the ruffled black organdy ribbon.

The harvest moon on the image panel was made by punching a circle in a scrap piece of paper to create a stencil, and then using a sponge dauber to add color.  I used a yellow brad in the corner of the sentiment to mimic the moon from the image.

If you have the October 2010 issue of Scrap & Stamp Arts, you may have seen the card on page 16 that I used for my inspiration!

Here is another card I CASEd from the J/J/A 2010 issue of Take Ten.   As a matter of fact the inspiration card on page 4 was the reason I purchased this particular issue!  This card was one of the cards made during my card-making marathon using rub ons a couple of weeks ago!

PTI ivory, Tangerine Tango,  and Chocolate Chip are the card stock colors used.  Punches, EF, rub ons, metal hardware, rhinestones, and rhinestone brads brought the card to life!

Sunny Delight

 I had three different sketch swaps on three different Yahoo groups to get going on. So I pulled out my drawer of sunflower stamps and carefully chose the ones that would see some ink.  The stamp on the left is from Museum of Modern Rubber, the center image is from Rubber Stampede, and the one on the right is an unmounted stamp (aka unknown!).  These were all stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Gina K. Pure Luxury white card stock and colored with Copics, then accented with Smooch Spray in Log Cabin.  (FYI: the cards are photographed in the box I use to spray the Smooch in!)

Next I chose coordinating prints from the Sweet Pea DSP pack to go with So Saffron card bases.  Layers were cut, images mounted, and the sketch cards began to take shape!

Choosing just right embellishments and putting them in place was next and the cards became finished projects, ready for mailing!

you're so sweet

I sure got my money's worth out of the June/July/August 2010 issue of Take Ten!  This card is another CASE, which I found on page 4. On yesterday's card I used a pop of blue, today's card is a more subtle pop of green!  Rub ons provide the images and sentiment on this CAS card. A snippet of folded ribbon partially backs the square rhinestone brad.

I would have probably embossed the larger pink layer, but at the time this card was made, I had loaned my Big Shot to a friend.  (Remind not to do that again - I missed it so much!  LOL!)  So that big empty space is really challenging me to leave it alone!

The colors for this card are : PTI ivory, Chocolate Chip, Pretty in Pink, Wild Wasabi

Happy Day

I love the pop of bright blue with these bright warm colors!  The card layout is one I saw in the June/July/August 2010 issue of Take Ten, page 85.

Specific colors used are: Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, and Pumpkin Pie.
Embellishments include: rub ons, rhinestone brads, metal frame, and a Cuttlebug EF(can't remember the name right now!).

Scallops and Stripes

I don't recall whose sketch this is.  I copied it quickly and ran down to my stamp room with several hand drawn sketches and magazines to get started on my card-making marathon last weekend.

The colors on this card are Sage Shadow, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel, and Whisper White.
Ribbon, buttons, rub ons, linen thread, and pearls are the embellishments used.  Scallop punches were used for the circle and border.

My favorite part of the card is the layered button and the pearls!

Small and Great Things

This CAS card is a result of a nonstamping card-making marathon I had  last weekend.  Some packages of rub ons kept getting in my way, so I decided to make as many cards in one sitting as I could using rub ons instead of stamps.  I was really hoping to thin out my collection!  but alas, although I used a lot of rub ons, I still have way too many left!  Do they multiply when I'm not looking?

This card was inspired by one I saw on page 92 in the June/July/August 2010 issue of Take Ten.  Consider yourself warned: "you'll be seeing a lot of cards CASEd from this particular issue."  a friend brought her copy over a few week ago and I loved it so much, I went online and ordered my own issue! it arrived last Friday just in time for my marathon on Saturday morning!

At a recent trip to Wal Mart, I found these MS stickers in the clearance aisle. I knew they would find a way onto some Fall cards.  In this case, sooner rather than later!  Note that I even found brads in my stash to match the four leaf colors!  (Little things like this make me smile!)

The September 2010 issue of CardMaker magazine, page 24, was the inspiration for this card.

Autumn Days

I just have to say it: " I love this card!"
Of all the cards I have made within the last month, this is one of my all time favorites. I love the color combo and the clean lines.  This card is so me!  Well except there is no stamping on here and I do feel a little guilty about that!

Okay, sorry for the gushing!  Most of you know what's coming next... this card is a CASE!  Yep! I loved the layout/idea in CardMaker, page 72, Sept, 2010, and had to make my own version!

Sweet Sunflowers

Another card, another CASE!  The Fall 2010 issue of Paper Creations has been really good to me as far as inspiration goes!  My card today is based on the one on page 40.
  
The sunflowers are Martha Stewart stickers that I found in the clearance aisle at Wal-Mart!  (I would have paid full price for these beauties!)  I used one of the smaller sunflowers and placed it in a build a brad.  Too often I forget to use these fun embellishments!

I took some artistic license and used the Hero Arts real daisy stamp as a sunflower.  I love sunflowers!  (Well I love daisies too, but it's almost fall!)

The little paper bag was inspired by one I saw in Paper Crafts, Fall 2010, on page 45.  I just added mine to a card front to make it a full sized card.

What fun I had layering punchies and Nesties on this card!  Everything color coordinating with the pretty colors of the DSP!

The three little embellishments in the lower corner are called  "Candy Dots"!   They do look a lot like the candy dots that I enjoyed as a child.  So fun to remember old-fashioned penny candy!

Do I feel guilty CASEing so many cards?  Yes!  But in this instance (ha! was going to say in this case!), when a magazine gives you step by step directions, they are asking to be CASEd!  So I am doing my reader duty by following directions!

How lucky was I that the pearls I added to the scalloped border match the polka dots in the DSP!?!  Little things like that make me giddy!

Autumn Vine DSP #1

My next four posts will feature cards made with one of my favorite (although retired) SU DSP: Autumn Vine.  I usually use it sparingly, but recently went all out and used it for several cards at once!  (Yes, I am a wild child!) This patterned paper also features one of my favorite SU colors (also retired) Sage Shadow.

Moving onto the card.  You can guess it is a CASE if you have the Fall 2010 issue of Paper Crafts and looked on page 35!  I loved the whimsical flower on the original card, so made my version by using a rub on with some of said DSP.  I cut out the bloom and added it to a rub on stem and colored in the open leaf with a Sage Shadow marker.

The smaller posy is from a punch and the sentiment is another a rub on.  This card makes me happy, how about you?

Creeping By To Say Hi!

 In the same package of rhinestones as yesterday's card, was this rhinestone spider.  So as long as the package was finally opened I put the little creep to use!

And evidently I wasn't smart enough to follow my own advice from yesterday, as the two panels were also sponged after the card was layered!  Sheesh!

It's very difficult to see in the photo, but there are three black spiders creeping down the right side of the card near the top and one black spider creeping along the lower left corner. The spiders are from a package of Halloween confetti that I've had forever!
