In Stitches

 Yikes!  I was away from my stamp room this weekend, so unfortunately have little to show you!  Hope I feel like stamping at the end of each work day this week, as I feel behind in stamping and hate neglecting the blog!

This card was an attempt to make a "quilt" card.  I used some older DSP (can't think of the name right now) and some button brads.  The "stitching" is actually a Hero Arts stamp.  The Top Note die cut is popped up with foam tape.

It's a Stretch!

 I made these tall and skinny birthday gift enclosures awhile ago and realized I never posted them!  These have a top fold and measure 2 1/8 x 5 1/2.  A real fun size to work with!

Chocolate Bunny

 I made this card using the sketch from Card Positioning Systems; sketch 206.

I decided to make an Easter card, a chocolate bunny card to be exact!

I was in my element making this card with all the layering of papers and embellishments.   And I celebrated the completion of the card with...a piece of chocolate (or maybe two)!

For my card I used the image "Mix It Up" and combined it with some SU DSP and a sentiment, with three red brads added to mimic cherries!  I also put Crystal Effects on the mixing bowl  to make it glass-like!  The inside of my gatefold card has a recipe for Crock Pot Cherry Crisp!

Shaker Birthday Card

Tiffany at iheartart did it again with another awesome sketch!  Check out TG008!


Yesterday while it was snowing and blowing outside, I was stamping very contentedly in my stamp room.  In between Christmas card challenges (it's what I do on Sundays!) I was doing some searching for long misplaced items (like the new blade for my Genesis cutter) and going through miscellaneous piles of "stuff".   In one of the piles I rediscovered two of these birthday shaker tags.  Fast forward to when I checked Tiffany's blog for her Sketchy Sunday post and before you could blow out a candle I had a plan for my card!  Although I didn't put it together until this morning as a celebration of another snow day here in MN!  (Actually today was supposed to be a make up day from a previous snow day! Ha!)

Create a Cupcake

The photo above was our inspiration this time around for Friday Mashup #32.  I had just been sorting through some DSP, so used these patterns for planning my card.  Even though the DSP Petals & Paisleys is long retired, I did use a brand new stamp set and matching punch from SU!   Create a Cupcake and the coordinating punch recently arrived at my house, so I put it to work!

Staying with the cupcake theme of the photo, I used the posie/leaf stamp in the set to stamp a trio of blooms directly onto the frosting, but then cut this piece out by hand to keep the little leaves from getting chopped off!  Stickles was added to the centers of the posies for some sparkle,  This piece was slightly curled on the edges with a bone folder and then popped up with dimensionals..  I used the Fiskars paper crimper on the cupcake bottom to give it some texture and dimension.

Snow Burst!

 There is a burst of snow in my stamp room and outside my window!  We are experiencing a blizzard after having nearly week of melting snow!  Minnesnowta, love it or leave it!

Well I discovered another Christmas card challenge blog!  It's called: Weekly Christmas Card Challenges!  The challenge this week is to use light and dark blue, silver and white.  I think I have it all covered in my snowy card!








Because my card base was a darker blue (Not Quite Navy), I put a Top Note die cut on the inside for writing the personalized message.

The "White" Stuff!

We're up to Challenge #8 at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Card Challenge Blog !  The theme is the "white stuff". 

I decided to do a mostly white card for this challenge.  Do you think the gold frame at the bottom is too much?  I'm not sure I like it.

What I do like is the glossy pearl card stock layer between the card base and the image layer.  Difficult to see in the photo, but it's subtle shimmer coordinates nicely with the Pearl Ex snowflakes shimmering down the right side of the card.  On the left side I used an embossing folder of tall pine trees.

Adding to the Christmas Stash!

Today is Sunday and I'm showing you the Christmas card that I made for the Friday challenge on jingle belles, who is partnering with Sketchy Thursdays!  Are you confused?  LOL!  Just click on the colored links and it will all be explained!

 So this is my take on the sketch!  I had a few scraps of this DSP (retired, name unknown) that I had just thrown away because they kept getting moved from one pile to another.  Then I sat down and planned out my card, wanting to use the felt embellishments.  Well I had the perfect DSP...in the garbage!...so out they came again!  LOL!

Sketchy Bliss

 I finally had time to get to this fun sketch from Tiffany!  I really enjoy her sketches and she offers up a new one every Sunday.  This is of course from last weekend.  But better late than never!

I used the SU set "Bliss" for my card today.  My colors are Sahara Sand, Not Quite Navy, Rich Razzleberry, and Pumpkin Pie.  Oh, and a little Early Espresso!  Not springtime colors, but they gave me the look I was going for.

Other items I used were: the Textile embossing folder, rhinestones, dimensionals and Nestibilities: Label One.

Heartfelt

I totally CASEd this card from someone in Blogland or possibly SCS!  I needed a swap card for a turquoise and brown color swap and when I saw this design, I fell in love with it's CAS elegance!   I used the same image and sentiment as the original, but the colors are different, as well as the ribbons.   Also I added a brown layer between the card base and the ivory image layer.

Faux Pressed Flowers

Were you expecting a Valentine card today?  LOL!  Surprise, no more to show you for this year!

I made this card for a technique swap on one of my Yahoo groups.  Using paper or fabric flowers and a tighter embossing folder pattern, the end result looks something similar to pressed flowers.  Easy, fun technique provides a wow factor.  You can find a tutorial here on the SCS resources pages.

CHNC 7

 Here is my second Christmas card this weekend!  This one was made for the challenge at Craftyhazelnut's blog.  Hazel is also issuing her seventh challenge and it is: "feature a creature"!  At first I was thinking of going whimsical, but then I saw this stamp in my drawer.  It's been a very long time since this stamp saw ink! 

This is a very quick and simple card, but that's okay with me!  Here are some specifics:

The card base is PTI white and is 6 x 3.25 when folded.

The SU DSP is called Merry Moments.  It is actually a large snowflake pattern, but you can't tell with the image layered over it!

I used two different kinds of gold metallic paper: glossy and brushed.

The image is from Serendipity Stamps, inked with Chocolate Chip onto Whisper White card stock.  This layer is popped up with dimensionals.

The stamped image was run through a Xyron sticker machine and then Dazzling Diamonds glitter was poured over the sticky image.

A gold snowflake brad anchors the corner.

And yes, I have glitter everywhere, including my face, but it was so worth it!

(BTW, I have 13 Christmas cards done for next year so far!  I doubled up one week on jingle belle's and Craftyhazelnut's challenges!)

JB07 "No red!" she said.

Can you believe I'm making Christmas cards for next year already?  If you are a frequent visitor to my blog, you know I have been for a few weeks now.  It's easy when you have a great blog like jingle belles to inspire you every week!

The new challenge JB07 is to make a Christmas card without using any red!  I love red, but okay, it can be done!

My card is actually Always Artichoke, but this color always comes out looking gray in my photos.

I'm the Guest Designer!

On Friday Mashup!  For my card I decided to use the lovely graphic Holly sent, when she emailed to inform me I was chosen their Mashup Maven last week!  Exciting times!

As you can see I made an easel card.  I wanted this impressive image to be able to be displayed on a mantel or tabletop.  I altered the image slightly in a couple of ways.  One thing I did was pop up the hat with foam tape and also used blue Fun Flock on the feather!  On the lower left corner I sewed some gold embroidery floss and hung delicate gold heart charms from the threads. The edges of the card front and the sentiment panel were sponged with Soft Suede ink.  The image was sponged with Encore gold ink along the edges.

Hearts were punched out from Riding Hood Red and Soft Suede card stock and added to the top corners.  I used Bake's Twine on the hearts to mimic the hearts tied with string in the image.

Parchment colored vellum was punched with a MS lace border punch and placed on the top and side edges of the card.  Dots of gold Stickles was added to the lace flower centers.

The sentiment is from Paper Inspirations and is stamped in Soft Suede ink.  An impressive red pearl heart was added to the sentiment panel for interest.  And as usual, I decided after the card was completed to add gold Smooch Spritz to the entire card front!  (lots 'o post its came in handy to protect the parts of the card I wanted kept Smooch free!)

This is the stamp that sold me on the Gina K set Sent With Love!  Isn't it cute!  LOL!

Lesson learned with this card: cut oval first, then stamp!  LOL!  For now just tilt your head a little!

I have a confession to make: I love making Valentine cards almost as much as (or maybe even more than) Christmas cards!  Gasp!  I have enough Valentines to last me for a few years (okay, not quite years)...and yet... I keep making more!   LOL!

I went with a monochromatic theme on this Valentine card.  I had fun choosing prints, embossing textures, and finding the right number and shades of heart shaped buttons.  Wish I could remember where I got these, as now I'm in need of more!
