Simply Sweet

 This card is so sweet, you almost need to brush your teeth after looking at it!  The stem image is from A Muse and then I added flower brads to the tops and adorned each with a teeny tiny pearl.  The ribbons are scrap pieces that just fit stretched across the Top Note die cut! 

Speaking of the Top Notes.  One day I took my scrap basket of card stock and die cut as many of these as I could.  Now I have an impressive stack for when I want them to layer on the front of a card and more often to add to the inside of a card.

I used one of my favorite SU stamp sets, Tiny Tags, to add a trio of sentiment tags to this cute card.

Summer by the Sea

 This morning when I saw the sketch at Sketch Frenzy Friday, I immediately thought of these cute SU buttons of mine that have been sitting untouched for the longest time!  Then I remembered the ribbon, also SU, also mainly untouched!  So I went in search of an image and came across this old SU set: Summer by the Sea.

I knew I was not wanting to color in this image, so I pulled out my Pacific Point ink pad and stamped the image  and sentiment.  After some layering  and punching and more layering and die cutting, the card fell into place rather quickly and here 'tis!

Merry & Bright

 One of the challenges this week at Designed 2 Delight is to make a Christmas card without using red or green.  Well I can do that and did with this color combo: Soft Suede, white and copper!

The image is from Serendipity Stamps and the sentiment is SU.  Both are stamped on PTI white card stock in Soft Suede ink.  Both image and sentiment are layered onto metallic copper layering weight paper.  Behind the image panel is a layer of light brown suede paper.  Mmmm, soft to the touch!

Seasons Greetings Banner

 This is the third of the banners I recently made.  Just like the "Give Thanks" and "Spooky" banners, this one was fun to make and went together easily.  I just did all of the steps assembly line style.  Took patience and time, but I am so pleased with how they all turned out!  I'm thinking now of making a banner for my stamp room!  Just need to figure out what it should say - maybe "create".  If you have a better idea, please share!

Some highlights in the details:

The letters were cut from white felt using a Sizzix alphabet.

The circles behind the letters were punched from red and green glitter sticker paper.

The DSP came from several different packs of SU papers - just mixed and matched coordinating colors and patterns.

The polka dot tags were from a bucket of holiday chipboard gift tags purchased at Target a couple of years ago (I bought them because the little clear bucket the were packaged in was so cute!)  They came with ribbons on them, so I just tied them into bows.

The gingerbread men are cupcake toppers, also purchased a few years ago.


The snowflakes are SU's felt flurries.

The candy canes and joy banners are little wood decorations from, you guessed it, a purchase several years ago!  See, I eventually use my stuff, when I remember what I have, where it is, and have the perfect project!

Hambo Hoedown: A True Rebel

This week for the Hambo Hoedown challenge we are using the rebel digi and stitching (faux or real).  Boy did this challenge make me nervous when I read stitching in the requirements.  After several deep breaths I nervously wielded a dull needle and some linen thread and added just enough stitches to qualify for the challenge - whew!

My image was colored in with Copics, although not very creatively with the color combo!  I did try to put some gray into the beard though!  The image is layered on Crumb Cake and popped up with dimensionals onto several patterns from the SU DSP pack called Urban Oasis.  The card base is also Crumb Cake.

Hmmmmm, I know this card should go to one of my sons, but which one and when!?!  It's all in the timing!

"Spooky" Banner

 This photo isn't the best, but I am loving these banners!  This one is says "Spooky" and uses black card stock and Halloween themed DSP.  Across the tops of each pennant there is a strip of spider/web patterned ribbon.  And under that strip is some black flocked, fringed ribbon!  So much fun!  Between each pennant are buttons with Halloween brads wrapped through the holes.  On the pennants themselves, glittered letters and glittered felt ghost stickers are layered on accordion folded medallions.  On the two ends of the banner there are bows tied with wide striped ribbon.

 I can hardly wait to use this in October!  But in the meantime...how do I store these things?  LOL!  I'll have to figure out a plan and sooner rather than later!

Now imagine this if you can.  While I am making this banner I have a little angel cartoon me on one shoulder and a little devil me on the other.  The angel is telling me to give this to my DD for her birthday in October.  The devil is telling me not to!  LOL!  Guess I'll be making another banner for DD, but not before I get all the parts ready for a Christmas banner!  LOL!  I'm so evil!

Layered Cupcake

 The challenge this week at There's Magic In the Air is to use six or more layers.  Well you know I had to pounce on this challenge as I love to layer!  I used their awesome image called Flower Cupcake With Butterfly, which can be found here!

I printed the digi on patterned paper and on Daffodil Delight card stock.  Then I cut all the parts out that I needed to layer the top and bottom of the cupcake and butterfly.  The edges of each layer were outlined with Stickles.  When those were dry I began to rebuild the image on Whisper White card stock.

The other layers of the card include more Daffodil Delight card stock, black, and a PTI white base.  The sunflower patterned paper is from a very old and neglected stash of papers.  I finished the card off by wrapping gingham ribbon around the top layers and adding a bow.

I'm loving this card!

Give Thanks Banner

 I have wanted to make a banner for a long time now and last weekend I put myself to work!  Obviously this one was made to help celebrate Thanksgiving, although not sure why I started out with this holiday!  Probably because I love Autumn and have so much paper that fits the theme!  Since this one was so much fun to make, I immediately started on one for Halloween, which I will post at another time!

I followed the tutorial for making banners from this blog here.

The individual pennants measure 4.50 x 6"  I used specialty DSP here, so the paper is card stock weight.  They are topped with a 1 x 4.50 inch strip of card stock layered with a .5 x 4.50" piece of DSP.  12 x 1.50 pieces of coordinating colors of DSP were used to make the medallions.  Sizzix letters were die cut using the cardboard in the DSP package and then were sent through a Xyron sticker maker and dumped with glitter!

I worked on this assembly line style so it went together quickly.  My second one for Halloween went together even faster!  I'm now in the planning stages for a Christmas one next!

As you can see I made a birthday card in primary colors this week.  The image is from Paper Pretties, one of our sponsors this week!  I colored using Copics and then added some die cut balloons to give the image some dimension.  The birthday sentiment (SU) in the lower corner is on layered ovals and embellished with some bright yellow dew drops (Robin's Nest) - how festive!

On to my card!

I used the colors in the patterned paper (Sweet Pea, SU) to color in the Whimsie Doodles image on this horizontal easel card.  Copic markers were used on the image and SU ink was used on the sentiment (SU) and balloon.  StazOn ink was used on the vellum, which was trimmed in a wave pattern.  Three fish brads hold the vellum in place.

Home Sweet Home

 I felt like making something different today, so I went to my Big Shot station and pulled out the mini milk carton die.  I dug though some older card stock stash and thought this print would make a good birdhouse base.  I discovered some grass printed paper in my digging and used a Sizzix die to create the lawn.  The SU bird punch gave the house an occupant and the red glossy heart sticker turns it into a home sweet home!

Forever Your Friend

Here I am CASEing another card from the cards magazine!  This is a 3.50 x7 inch card.  I used a wide strip of Sweet Pea DSP (SU) and then a MS border punch in a piece of always Artichoke card stock.  Brads were placed through the small openings created by the border punch.

Ribbon is wrapped around the lower third of the DSP/border strip and extends beyond the opposite edge of the card in a loop.  An impressive layered bloom sits midway on the ribbon.

Since I had my rub ons out from a previous card, I used them again for the sentiment.  The photo is dark, but this is a lovely card IRL!

Butterfly Wobble

 Those of you who have been to my blog the last couple of days understand what the title of this post means.  If you're new to my blog go back two or three days posts.  Yes, I'm playing with the Action Wobble Springs again!  This time the rub on butterfly medallion wobbles.

I dug out my old SU rub ons again and made several cards similar to this one.  Each one has a different sentiment from the rub on package.  I added several rhinestones to the main panel and then called it quits to keep it uncluttered and simple.

But that bouncing butterfly has me giggling and grinning from ear to ear!

Bling It Again! Violet and Red

Here is the other pair of bling cards I made in a recent card making session.   Not much new to say about these two cards! (Refer back to the earlier post today!)

Both of these cards use yummy satin ribbon and give them a richer look than the first two I showed you earlier.

Bling It: Blue and Green

 Earlier this week I pulled out some packages of bling, four to be exact, that I had purchased on clearance awhile ago.  I decided it was finally time to put them to use.  The cards started out by following a sketch, but then took on a life of their own (as in the sketch was no longer working out)!

I'm showing two of the cards here now and the next two cards will be posted later today.

For the blue card I ran the layered pieces through the big shot with a swiss dot embossing folder.  My intention was to keep this card monochromatic, but didn't have the right color of ribbon in my stash!

The green card was actually the last of the four I put together because I was having a Goldlilocks moment with the card stock layer colors - Old Olive was too dark, Certainly Celery was too light, aaah Pear Pizzazz was just right.

Several good things about making these cards is that I now my bling box closes a little bit easier, and my DSP pile is slightly reduced!

I left some space on the blinged out circles to add sentiments at a later time, whether it be birthday, thinking of you, or a friendship card, etc.  I'm very pleased to have four more cards added to my stash!

Ladybug Joy!

The ladybugs used on this whimsical card are from Magenta, colored with Copics.  I stamped them again on vellum, cut out just the wings and adhered them in place with Crystal Effects on just one end, so they are slightly popped up!  Three Nestabilities were used to cut the image and layers:  plain, scallop, and deckle edge ovals.

A Sizzix die called Scribble Swirls was used on vellum to cut the embellishments.  Black rhinestones were added to the tips of the swirls.  I see that black doesn't show up all that well in this photo, but my red ones were too small and I didn't have the right shade of green - sigh!

Are you ready for a surprise?  The lower bug...wobbles!  LOL!  Yep, I just had to use the Action Wobble Springs one more time!  Who knew that wobbling ladybugs would give me so much joy!  LOL!

Mono Mosquito: aka Hambo Hoedown Challenge!

Check out the monochromatic challenge at the Hambo Challenges blog!  If you played along last week and followed the rules, you get to use this fun digi for this week's challenge free!  I new when I opened my email and saw this mosquito, I was going to make him wobble!  And I did!  With the help of these fun action wobbles springs!  Yes, those of who know me well, know that I am a sucker for whimsical things, (what can I say? I like to play!) so I had to make the purchase!  And, yes, I am having so much fun making things on my cards wobbly!  (That's a hint that more action cards will soon be posted!)

This card started out as a 4.25 square and then transformed into a 4.25 x 5.50 with the help of a Top Note die cut.  The SU sentiment was altered from 'hugs & kisses' by substituting a couple of letters!  The star of this show was colored in with Copics and then cut out and layered using Nestibilities ovals.   He was then placed on an action wobble, so he can wiggle and wobble all day!  Not only can his body wobble, but his eyes can wiggle too!  Squeal!  I'm having too much fun today!

Orson, Many Thanks

My second card today is also green, although a different shade: Wild Wasabi.  It was made for a sketch challenge over at Paper Cupcake's Challenge Blog, (There's Magic in the Air).  I mostly followed it (wink!) when making my card!  I used the featured digi image, 'Orson, Many Thanks', which can be found here.

I started out with a large scalloped circle (SU) and then punched holes in each of the scallops.  Then I added a DSP circle (Apple Cider, SU) and strip of paper in a different pattern.  The image was colored with Copics and layered onto a piece of River Rock and then onto the card with dimensionals.  Two colors of green twill tape were stretched across the circle and I added an additional piece at the top scallop.  Okay, I added twill at the top because I messed up one of my punched holes!  LOL!  Gotta cover those boo-boos creatively you know!  A large button tied with two colors of Baker's Twine was added to the lower corner of the image.

Today's card is a CASE from one seen in an issue of cards.  This simple little card is 4.25 square in size.  It has an Always Artichoke base and is layered inside with some DSP (Tea & Crumpets, SU).  I punched a circle out of the front so the DSP would show through.  Then I pierced holes all around the circle with the help of a circular piece of plastic canvas and a piercing tool!

Ribbon was used as an embellishment down the left side for stripe of color and the right side of the card has a crocheted flower with a button center. Baker's Twine is tied into a bow through the button.

The sentiment lays on top of the card on the left end and then tucks under the circle on the right end.

Shopping Our Stash Challenge 9!

The challenge this week at Shopping Our Stash is Technique Turn Back.  Oh my, what to choose!?!  Decisions, decisions!  I finally decided to go with a resist technique.  I pulled out some Magic Resist Paper from Dee Gruenig (remember how fun and perky she was on the Carol Duvall show way back when? I loved watching her get so excited about her projects!).  Ahem, back to the product,  This paper is old peoples!  I don't see a copyright date on it, but believe me, I've had it for a very  l o n g  time!  But it still works!  Oh, and in the package were other resist shapes:  bees, ladybugs, mittens, and snowflakes.  Anyone else out there remember (or still have some) of this paper?  Anyone?  Sigh.

You can see some of the un-inked paper, along with the advertising strip in the top left picture.  The top right picture shows what it looked like after I sponged dye ink onto the surface.  And then the third picture shows my completed card.

I used three SU sets to stamp the image and sentiment:  Trendy Trees, Sheltering Tree, and Stem Sayings.  The greens in the card are:  Always Artichoke, Garden Green, Wild Wasabi, and Old Olive.  The browns include:  Crumb Cake,  Chocolate Chip, Early Espresso, and Soft Suede.

What can I say?  Once again Dee made my day!
