SOS: Black and White +One

The challenge this week at Shopping Our Stash is:

Challenge 19- Sept 27- One color plus black and white (skin tones and hair colors okay).


I used some black and white DSP (SU) and an easy sketch for my card this week.  I added the third color with the help of some bling flourishes and matching card stock.  except for the card base, all other papers were from from scraps piles.  The rhinestone flourishes have been in my embellishment stash for a long time and I was happy to finish off the package!

I have always been a crafter. I enjoy making fun, silly, sassy handmade cards, scrapbook pages, and fun art projects for my friends and family to give as gifts. Creative Clear Stamps started as a solution to my own stamping needs. I had searched the web looking for fun themed stamp sets, but few portrayed my personality, sense of humor, and special interests. In 2004 I went back to school, and earned a degree in Graphic Design and Desktop Publishing (one of the best things I have ever done for myself ). I worked as a freelance graphic designer under the name Creative Vision for a few years before I decided to start my own line of clear stamps. In early 2008, after many hours behind the computer and away from my craft room, the very first stamp sets were born.

At Party Time Tuesdays our challenge is "Anything Goes"!

For this card I was going for an elegant and sassy combination.  I used an image from Gilli, one of our sponsors this week, and a sassy sentiment from Creative Vision, another one of our sponsors this week.  A sentiment from SU helped me pull it all together.

The image was colored with Copics.  I think I'm showing improvement on my shading abilities!  And if not, I'm having fun trying!

Feeling Witchy

Just posting a fun little Halloween card for you today!  I used all SU papers, very old ribbon from WM and the stamps are by Imaginations.

Ms Autumn

Anyone remember the stamp company called Sweet Celebrations?  It was a direct sales type rubber stamp company that sold both wood-mounted and unmounted stamps.  The company called it quits quite a long while ago.  A friend of mine had been a demo for them, and this image is from one of the sets.  I don't know the name of this set, but it has four women, (or maybe all the same one!) each representing a season.  I paired this autumn image with some SU DSP called Autumn Traditions and took my colors from there.  Ribbon and a few leaf shaped buttons finish off this simple card.

Sweet Celebration

 I made this card for the sketch challenge at Woodware USA.  I started out by using two Groovy Guava scalloped circles that have been in my SU stash forever.  I glued the top seven scallops together and then scored below them so that the card opens easily.  The ribbon and bow are the same GG color.  The DSP is Darling Doodles from SU (also from my hoarded stash, although this paper is slowly dwindling down to mere scraps!).  The blooms were punched out and brads added to the centers.  The ice cream cone image is a Woodware USA set (Sweet Tooth) that I stamped onto the same DSP and cut out.  The sentiment is from the SU set Sweet Celebrations.

I Have a Secret to Tell!

 I have been enjoying the challenges at Hambo Hoedown for quite awhile now (well that's not a secret, but what's coming next is!)

And was so excited, and near speechless (okay, I may have bounced and squealed!) when I was chosen to be one of their guest designers!   And this week it is my turn!!!

This week they are partnering with Operation Write Home.  You are encouraged to make cards for this challenge and then SEND THEM to Operation Write Home (along with any others that you would like)!

Here is the card I made for this special challenge!  My card is a Joy Fold Card in shades of blue.  You can find the directions for making a Joy Fold Card here!  I used the digi "Pig Sub" and colored it in with Copics and cut it out.  After gluing it to the top folded piece, I placed some mottled blue vellum over the image to make it look like it was underwater.  The sentiment hides the glue dot to hold the vellum in place in the upper corner.  The red fish brad hides the other glue dot, plus it holds the top card closed!

The main card base of Pacific Point was layered with a panel of Bashful Blue and Marina Mist, both of which were embossed: one with "bubbles", the other with "swirls".

Shopping Our Stash Challenge #18!

Welcome to another challenge at Shopping Our Stash!   We are up to Challenge #18:

 "No coloring allowed- put down the Copics and Prismas....think of dragging out your colored ink pads and/or sentiment/quote stamps for this round!  Or how about stamping an image and NOT coloring it in?  Use your imagination along with your neglected stash! You can use pre-colored digis, stickers, paper piecing, etc!"


About my card.  The stamp used is from Art Impressions and can definitely hold its own without the need to add color.  Hard to see in the photo, but I did put a small cluster of rhinestones in the center.

The card base is Crumb Cake with layers of Riding Hood Red and Calypso Coral, which were machine stitched.  Both the scallop circle and the very back layer are Basic Gray. I got the idea for the color combo from the SU Color Coach.

Stamps R Us: OWH Challenge

Our Stamps R Us challenge is a little different this time.  The theme is to make a birthday card for Operation Write Home.  

Make an A2 sized birthday card using any products for your cards except glitter and send it to one of the Operation Write Home shippers listed on the Operation Write Home main blog.

For my card I used a pre colored image from The Paper Shelter called Balloon Ride!  So fun to play with and makes a quick card!  I printed the colored image on Gina K PL layering weight cs and cut out with Nestibilitites.  I sponged on some Cool Caribbean and layered the image on a scalloped mat.  The three background papers are from SU, as is the birthday sentiment on the Spellbinders ribbon slide.

Super Sketch Sunday!

I'm back with another 365 card to show you today!  This is #202, Super Sketch Sunday!  I made this one while the DH and DS were watching football.  Once I figured out what to do, it all came together very quickly.

The card begins with a Blush Blossom base with a layer of Chocolate Chip.  The DSP is Bella Birds (SU).  The stamp is also SU from the set Bella Blossoms (I think that's what it's called). It was stamped with Chocolate Chip ink onto a scrap of DSP from the same set of papers. The image was punched out with an oval punch (Marvy), that just fit perfectly in this Spellbinder Fancy Tag cut from Chocolate Chip!   That was a delightful surprise!  I used some of my hoarded satin ribbon under the tag.  And then to top everything off, I placed adhesive backed pearls in the small holes all around the oval!  IRL, this card is yum!

365 cards: 199/201

Continuing with the 365 Cards Challenge, I have two more cards to share with you today.

This first one is for Day 199, which is A Year to Remember.  My card represents some major events that occurred this year.  In May I retired from teaching and in June our daughter was married.

See the background paper?  I highlighted some entry words and their definitions with gold flower brads:  laugh, time. future, and memory.  Perfect!

 This second card is for Day 201, thinking of two friends and making a card with thoughts of each.

 My card is for two friends that I spent some time with this summer.  We all collect stoneware, Red Wing stoneware to be exact, and gathered in Red Wing, MN for the annual convention for collectors.

One friend loves her flower gardens and spending time outdoors.  The other friend loves to bake, make jellies and jams, and canning.

I was lucky enough to have some stamps in my collection that represents us all!

Witch's Feet

I made this card for the challenge at GingerloftChallenge.  (And yippee!  I'm now a member of the Design Team!)  Join us in this challenge making vintage and/or distressed cards.

I used Tami's digi image called "Which Witch Feet?".  It's a fun image to play with!  I printed the image on PTI white and colored in with Copics.  After cutting out with Nestibilities I sponged on some Perfect Plum and then stamped with a splatter stamp in black.  The image is popped up with dimensionals.

The patterned paper is from SU, which was layered onto black card stock and then the edges were distressed with a distressing tool.  A glittered chipboard flourish was added, as well as, a multi-layer fabric flower with a pearl center.  And of course there is ribbon with a matching bow!

Halloween Bloom

For the Friday's Free Image Challenge at  Designed 2 Delight  I used their image Happiness Blooms, which I received free for playing along last week.  You can purchase this delightful image by clicking on the link!  Hope you decide to play along, as this image works so well with the paper piecing technique, but would look great colored in as well!

I changed Happiness Blooms into a 'Halloween Bloom' by printing it out onto assorted Halloween patterned papers and then cutting and pasting!  Can you see the popped up spider in the flower center?  How about the spider's web?  I added some Baker's Twine to the vase for an embellishment and then some simple layering with coordinating papers and this card was done!

Sing Your Art Out!

Welcome to "Sing Your Art Out" sponsored by Hambo Stamps!   Today Hambo friends, customers, and the Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict song titles!   It might be our favorite song, or just one that was fun to design.   If you arrived here from Jenn's blog you are in the right place!   If not, you might want to start back at the beginning at the Hambo blog to make sure you are eligible for the hopper prize!

A prize will be awarded to one participant whose song-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits’ fancy in a singin' wingin' way!    Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper who comments on all the blogs along the hop.   The winners will be announced on the Hoedown blog, as well as on the Hambo company blog, Talk to the Ham, on Wednesday, September 21.

 My card features the digital image called Hamster Heart, but I am pretending they are muskrats.  Why muskrats?  Because the song I was inspired by is "Muskrat Love" by Captain & Tennille!  I made a stairstep card that can be used as a Valentine, Anniversary card or a fun I Love You card!

I went all out and used lots of embellishments on this creation!  In the front there is flocked open hearts trim, layered flocked flowers, and glittered flowers.  The next step has a big layered felt flower and glittered flourishes.  In the back are Nestibilities hearts layered on scalloped hearts with more layered flocked flowers.  The two paper pieced "muskrats" (ahem...hamsters) are on wobble action springs so they can wiggle and jiggle, shimmy and tango!

Warm up those vocal chords and be prepared to sing!  Now hop on over to Marcie's blog for another great sing-along song!

"House" It Going?

 I'm using the House2 image from Hambo Stamps for the challenge this week at Hambo Hoedown.  I got this image free for playing along last week, but you can buy it here!

The challenge this week is to use something from around the house that you don't normally use on a card.  I used real window screen on the upper and lower windows of this house!  I used acetate (which is not unusual) on the door.

I printed the image on going gray card stock and colored parts of it with Copics.  I added some metal Halloween embellishments to the card, specifically a ghost in the attic window and another in the embossed tree.  That ghost is saying "boo!"  would be!  A spooky bat is flying by the rooftop.

365 cards...Card Challenge

365 cards: A New Card Challenge Every Day.  This is my first time playing with their challenges.  I hope to join in more often!

This first card is for Day 196  Divide and Conquer, making your card with five parts!

I used a PSX stamp for this card and colored with Copics.  I used some DSP from SU and embellished with rub on flourishes and a fall leaf button.

This next card is for Day 197, using beads on your card.

I used a black card base with a layer of Pumpkin Pie and then a layer of Basic Gray, which was embossed with a web embossing folder.  I swiped white craft ink over the paper to further highlight the web.

The spider is a DOTS stamp and the sentiment is from SU.  The spider's "silk thread" is a string of beads.  Three black rhinestones were added to simulate bugs caught  in the web.  and to give the spider a spookier look, I added two red wiggly eyes.







This last card is for Day 198, which is to make the sentiment the focal point of the card.

I used a PSX stamp for the sentiment  and some coordinating patterned paper for the background.  The sentiment and its mat were cut with Nestibilities.  I used a splatter stamp to add Pumpkin Pie splats all over the sentiment.  The edges were sponged in black.  Orange, black, and yellow Baker's Twine were knotted together at the bottom of the card.

I'm also excited to use this third card for the Creative Belli Challenge #126 to use string!

Sunflower Tent Card

 This card was made for a technique swap on one of my favorite yahoo groups: The Rubber Inker.  I found directions to make a tent card here on SCS.

My card begins with a Crumb Cake base with some Basic Gray patterned paper.  I used a Nestibilities to cut out the circle from the layered front of the card and to make a circular layer to go around the front opening.  A ribbon tag die was used to make the sentiment piece.

The inside of the card has a stamped field of sunflowers (DOTS), colored with Copics.  The stamped sentiment is from Peddler's Pack.

Satin ribbon is wrapped around the card front and through the ribbon tag.   A felt sunflower sticker is in the corner.

Hope my partner likes the card I made for her!

SOS Challenge #17: Distressed, Vintage, or Shabby Chic

Challenge 17 Sept 13 - Shabby Chic or  Distressed or  Vintage- do you have a plethora of Tim Holtz supplies longing to be used?  Or how about some vintage findings, or shabby chic trims?  Dig out your vintage-themed papers, stamps, embellishments or go shabby chic- or even just distress edges of your papers!


For my card this week I went with distressing, by roughing up the edges and stamping with a splatter stamps from SU.  I stamped the Stampassions topiary on PTI white and colored with Copics.  This layered image is popped up with dimensionals.

The card base is Sage Shadow, one of my favorite retired SU colors.  The SU DSP used is Enchante.  Two kinds of ribbon were layered and a bow was added.

Party Time Tuesdays Challenge #33!

 PTT #33: Ribbons, Trim, and Fibers, Oh My!

My card features two images from Tiffany Doodles, one of our sponsors for this challenge, that I printed on PTI white and colored with Copics.  Tiny black rhinestones were added to the shoes and purse handle.  The images are backed with black scalloped circles cut with Nestablilities.

A glittered black flourish and glittered flowers embellish the card.  The cute pink and black flowered ribbon is from Circle B, another sponsor for our challenge this week!

The sentiment is a stamp from Make an Impression, so cute with these images!
