Dynamic Duos #9: Crumb Cake and Your Choice!

This week at Dynamic Duos it's your choice on the second color to pair with Crumb Cake!

I chose Not Quite Navy as my second color, using it in card stock, ink, patterned papers, and buttons.  A perky row of pennants run across the top potion of the card.  Wide, white twill ribbon is knotted across the center of the card with a layered tag hanging from a small safety pin.  The sentiment is from SU's "Sprinkled Expressions".  Below that are three buttons connected with Linen Thread.  Off to the right is the falling star image from the same set layered onto a NQN die cut from Spellbinders Labels Four.

I'm looking forward to seeing what color you will combine with Crumb Cake this week!

Where Have You Been?...

It's release day at McMahon Five Designs and I'm using an image and one of the sentiments from a new set called: "Adventure".  The image is colored with Copics and layered onto black and blue.  I cute out the sentiment with a Spellbinders die so it looks like a speech bubble.  I cut a second shape in black to form a shadow.  The patterned paper is from Lilybeedesign and this piece is layered onto blue and then the white card base.  A length of ribbon is tied into a simple knot.  Visit the M5D website and checkout what else is new this week!

Polished Stone Butterflies

Welcome back for another challege at {PIN}spirational Challenges!  Deanne has another fun photo to inspire us again this week!

For my card I used a stamp from Gina K called "Master Butterfly" for my main image and a Martha Stewart punch for the smaller butterflies.  I stamped the image with VersaMark and embossed with fine detail black powder on a piece of card stock that was previously colored to look like polished stone.  I punched the smaller butterflies from some of the scraps.  all the butterflies are popped up with dimensionals.

Two Spellbinders dies were used to create the circular frame for the butterfly to sit in.  I placed tiny rhinestones on each of the petite scallops.  Rhinestones were also added to the punched butterflies.  The background panel was embossed with a M-Bossibilities folder called: Splendid.

I'm looking forward to seeing your creations based on our inspiration photo this week.  Be sure to link up your creation at the {PIN}spirational Challenges blog!

The something new is the Gina K patterned paper: Pool Party and the SU In Color: Midnight Muse

The something borrowed is the card idea from this card here.

Something blue...that should be obvious.  And something red, white and blue for our challenge!

One of my favorite stamp sets, Pocket Silhouettes, from SU is used on this card.  I paired it with some Crumb Cake card stock and "Spring Showers" DSP.  Paper piercing, spiral border, buttons with linen thread and layered blooms make this card a favorite of mine!

Dynamic Duos #8: River Rock and Always Artichoke

Monochromatic is on the menu to day at Dynamic Duos!

Every card has a story, right?  This card is made up of parts tucked in here and there in my stamp room.  The embossed panel was found with my embossing folders.  It must have been an extra when I last used the Framed Tulips folder.  since it was a neutral color I pulled it out.  The River Rock panel is the negative of a branch I cut for another card. Score!  One of the colors I needed for this challenge!  I slipped a scrap of Always Artichoke behind it after popping up the negative piece with dimensionals.  This was placed on an Always Artichoke card base.   But I wasn't satisfied.   It looked too plain (I have serious issues with the CAS look).  So it sat for a few days until I spotted those buttons on my stamping table. (See what treasures can be found with a little cleaning up time?).  I put the buttons on with glue dots and called it well done!

Loving Thoughts Bouquet

Today at Designed 2 Delight we have a Blog Hop to showcase the new stamp releases at D2D!  Check out what the Design Team has made for your viewing pleasure - the complete list of DT members and links can be found on my sidebar.

For my card I used the new image called: "Loving Thoughts Bouquet".  I colored this with Copics and then cut it out using a circle die cut to trim around the flowers.  I like how the white circular area highlights the pretty bouquet of flowers.  The bright blue paper with the basket weave pattern is from the "Blueberry Hill" collection by Nikki Sivils.  I used a strip of Cherry Cobbler with a scallop border punch for a pop of color on the edge of the patterned paper.  Natural twill ribbon was knotted at the top of the card and a red button tied with Linen Thread was attached to the knot.  The top layer of Sahara Sand was sponged using the same color of ink and then adhered to a Sahara Sand card base.

Thanks for looking and please check out what the rest of the team created for you today!  (Links on my sidebar)

Are We There Yet?

The challenge over at Creative Belli Blog is to make a 3D item.  I chose to make a travel journal for a friend of mine, so she can write down her thoughts and observations.  In fact she is using it right now on her trip to Australia and New Zealand!  I kept it flat and clear of any bulky embellishments as it will be in and out of her backpack throughout her trip.  It's lightweight and compact in size, as she is on a strict weight limit for her carry on, but it has plenty of pages to record her daily memories as she is touring different cities and sites.

The stamp set I used is from My Favorite Things, from their Pure Innocence collection appropriately called:  "Are We There Yet?".  The image was matted with Green Galore card stock and then mounted onto a notebook from the dollar store.  (Does anyone else buy a ton of these with the intention of actually altering them?  I made three!)  I matched colors from the notebook to Copic markers to color.

This is my last post as a member of the Creative Belli Design Team.  I've enjoyed the journey with this creative and talented team and wish them all the best!

Daisies and Ladybugs

Whap!  Here is our next photo to inspire you for the challenge at {PIN}spirational Challenges.  I took the colors red/yellow/and black from this photo for my card this week.

I really wanted to use my chevron punch from EK for this card and use black and yellow card stock for the main panel.  Then I had the idea of adding red to the mix and immediately thought of ladybugs. I added the daisies to brighten things up a bit and here you have it!  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches in their Sentiment Sampler set.

I had a "doh" moment when making this card.  Very carefully I found the center of the short edge of the card and glued down the first punched strip.  Then I very carefully glued down the next strip below that one.  I had planned on putting the last strip above the middle one, but alas my mind wandered off and it was glued in place below the second strip - whap!

Now it's your turn to create and link up to the challenge blog!  Have fun!

I'm Stuck On Stickers

Shopping Our Stash Challenge 57  Stuck on Stickers- use any type of stickers from your stash- alpha, trims, puffy, clear, etc. Anything that has adhesive will work!

These pressed flower stickers have been in my stash!  So hooray, I used three out of the twelve!

This color combo (some may call it unusual) came from the SU color wheel, which isn't a wheel at all, but a series of cards on a ring...color ring?  I'm talking Concord Crush, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango on a white card base.  The strip of DSP is from SU's "Lap of Luxury collection.  Three purple brads for embellishments.  And the sentiment is courtesy of Paper Smooches: "Word Salad".

dream BIG

I've been showing my Gina K stamps and papers a lot of love lately and this card is no exception.  The sentiment is from the set "Petals & Wings".  I just love the plaid patterned paper and paired it with another pattern and some coordinating card stock.  Martha Stewart punches were used for the embossed butterflies and the border.  Ribbon, twine, rhinestones, and a button complete the card

You're Just My Type

For my card today I used my favorite color combo and paired it with one of my favorite Gina K stamps sets: "True Love".  I had the card sketch in a notebook and it worked out well with the stamps from the set.  The heart border was stamped with black on white card stock and  then again with white on black card stock. The main image was left mostly uncolored, except for the red heart and the outer frame of the typewriter, which was colored with a silver gel pen.

Dynamic Duos #7: Melon Mambo and Basic Black

Along with our gorgeous duo this week we also have a dessert option to use ribbon!

I labored over those blooms for the longest time to get them just right!  (Okay, I might have called them "just right", if only to be done fussing with them - don't look too close!)

The card deets:
white card base
black layer
Melon Mambo layer
three strips of patterned paper  (SU's Night and Day DSP collection)
three 3D Melon Mambo blooms (Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms dies)
four black leaves from the same die set
rhinestone flourish
Dessert: Melon Mambo ribbon/bow

For You

The image on this card is from Gina K. called "Nature's Greetings" and was colored with Copics.  I did some shading around the flowers with pale yellow chalk to match the background paper.  I knotted some ribbon and stretched it across the top of the card.  This entire layered panel was popped up with dimensionals.

She Sells Sea Shells

What an awesome photo this week at {PIN}spirational Challenges!

My CAS card is made with gold and ivory Stardream card stock.  This is a heavy weight card stock with lots of elegant shimmer and shine.   The "shell" is a resin embellishment from my stash.  Gold eyelets are in the four corners and linen thread is woven around the square piece.  Real shells embellish the fancy tag with a sentiment from SU's "Happy Harmony".
