With Gratitude

I'm in a swap on SCS to make pages for a Gratitude Journal.  They are not due until the first of March, but I was avoiding housework and laundry and decided to play instead!   The pages are 6 x 6 and most use miscellaneous brands of card stock and some from SU.  The patterned paper is all SU.  The sentiment used on all but one of the pages is from Paper Smooches.  I had fun using up bits and pieces of embellishments from my stash.  It felt good to throw some now empty packaging away!  Without further ado, here are my journal pages:

Each page has pieces numbered one through seven so the recipients can write something they are grateful for each day of the week.

About one half inch was left bare on the left sides so the recipients can bind their pages into a book if they like.

I'm excited to see what the other swappers have come up with.  In the meantime, (and it's a long wait for me!) I have the front and back covers to design.

And how appropriate that this is my last post for 2012, as I am so grateful for all of you who come to visit me through my blog!  Happy New Year!

XOXO

Long time, no posting!  Hope you all made some wonderful Christmas memories and are ready to ring in a New Year very soon!

I finally have a card to share with you and am sneaking this one in before the New Year!  My card is based on sketch #44 at retrosketches  and a CASE of a card found at Avery Elle.  I used a new to me stamp set from Fresh Squeezed Stamps called "Games People Play".  I also used some textured card stock and patterned paper from an old SU Simply Scrappin' kit  "U R Sweet".  The scrabble like letters were stamped with black Versafine ink onto light tan marbled card stock that looks kind of sort of like wood.  These were stamped and cut out individually.  A Spiral Border punch gave the lined paper the look of a torn page from a notebook.  A large red button and red Baker's Twine were used, as was a corner rounder punch, to finish off the card design.

Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!

Baby's First Penny

I've had this idea in my head ever since my DD told me she was expecting her first child...our first grandchild.  I meant to have this done before baby was born, but she decided to come unexpectedly three weeks early and arrived on Thanksgiving day.  So my next thought was to make this for Christmas.  Nothing like waiting until the week before!

I printed the poem (found here on SCS) on ivory card stock and then layered with more ivory card stock with a bordered edge (MS punch).  I embossed an itty bitty envelope (HA) with a Swiss Dots folder and used a glue dot to adhere the 2012 penny onto an itty bitty card (HA).  I wrapped some ivory satin ribbon around the envelope and tied a small bow.  Inside the small card is a charm that says "Made With Love" and then I signed and dated it.  This whole section was then mounted onto Perfect Plum card stock and embellished with some satin flowers.   Everything is behind glass of this shadow box frame purchased in the clearance section from some department store long ago.  Yes, I'm using my stash one small project at a time!  Baby steps!

Now to wrap it up and tuck it under the tree!

Sweet Thanks

Against my better judgement I headed on over to the Clearance Rack at Stampin Up last week after hearing they put up some lots of new items.  I went a little crazy and ordered way more than I should have.  Among other things, several of their Simply Sent card kits landed in my cart as my mojo has been playing hide and seek a lot lately.  Well after hitting the submit button, I began to feel guilty because of all the stash already in my possession.  So to ease my guilt I pulled out a Simply Sent card kit that I had purchased during a clearance rack shopping spree, oh so long ago and was determined to use it all up!  This one was called Sweet Hello.  Maybe some of you remember it or even have it sitting unused in your stash - gasp!

Here's my card:

The kit came with 8 pre-printed card bases; as in the blue border and green flourish.  The cards felt flimsy to me, so I cut the fronts off and adhered them to some white PTI bases.  The backs didn't go to waste, I'll tell you what I did with them in a little bit.  The pearl embellished pink ribbon flowers came in the kit, so I put them in place, but felt the cards still needed something more.  So I added the tiniest of pearls to the flourishes here and there, eight in all.  (Oops, looks like one got away!)  Then using the Beautiful Wings embosslit I cut/embossed some Baja Breeze and Old Olive butterflies.  Two sizes/colors were layered and a short string of pearls to represent a body were added.  I used a sentiment from All Holidays to turn these into thank you cards and the fronts were complete.

The inside of the cards were given a Baja Breeze layer and then with the back portions of the original cards I used the Top Note die to add a white die cut layer over the blue.  (Sorry, no picture!)  So there you have it, eight thank you cards and one less card kit taking up valuable space!  Hey!  I think I'll let the hostess of the Thank You Card Swap know that I need another spot!

Thank Yous

These two cards were made for a "Thank You" card swap on SCS. I signed up for two spots and each card needed to be different.

On this first card I used some colored card stock and patterned paper from an old SU Simply Scrappin Kit called "U R Sweet".  The card base is PTI white.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches: Sentiment Sampler set.  The speech bubble is from a Cheery Lynn Designs die.  I also used the SU Spiral Border punch.  Black Baker's Twine gives some contrast and keeps the color combo crisp.

The sentiment for this card is from SU's Petite Pairs and is stamped on a die cut from Spellbinders Ribbon Banners.  The card base is PTI white with an additional layer of white that was embossed with a polka dot embossing folder.  The patterned paper is from SU: Jersey Shore.  (I am getting so tired of my old patterned papers!  But I refuse to buy new until I whittle my collection down...or die trying!) A small white fabric flower with a brad center was layered onto a larger felt flower.

A ♪ Note ♪ For You

This card is the third item in my music ensemble for a music swap I joined on SCS:

The card is pretty basic with a white card base, a black card stock layer, and then a white embossed layer.  I used an M Bossibilites folder. Two different sized circles were punched through the papers before layering and some music themed paper was placed behind the opening.  A sparkly note sticker was added to bling things up.   Two small black brads embellish the upper corner.  The inside of the card has a layer of the same patterned paper and a white top note die cut layered on top on which to write a note.

Here are the other two projects that were shown in earlier posts that complete the ensemble.  Card Candy on the left and a 6 x 6 recipe card on the right.

I'll mail these items in to the swap hostess after the holiday rush and then wait (im)patiently for my return items!   I'll join some other swaps to keep me busy while I wait.

Musical Card Candy

I had fun making up some packages of card candy for a swap.  As you can see these were for a musical theme.  Punches, dies, stamps, and other items from my stash were used.

I sure hope to find more card candy swap as these were a delight to make!

What's Cooking?

Here is a sampling of some 6x6 recipe cards made for upcoming swaps on SCS.  My goal is/was to get as many of the swaps I signed up for completed before Christmas as I can.  I'm not saying I signed up for too many...or am I, but they are addicting and fun!?!  I'm hoping to put the recipe cards I get back into an album or better yet a recipe stand like this one.  I have the feeling I'll need more than one!

A Three-part SCS Swap

There is a "Be My Valentine" swap on SCS and I signed up for all three categories: 6x6 recipe cards, Valentine cards, and treat bags.  I wanted to get all three items completed before Christmas.

First up is the recipe card:

Retired SU card stock colors were used for the base and layer and the recipe was printed onto confetti card stock.  Spellbinders dies were used to make the candy corn embellishments and I used a Martha Stewart border punch.  Washi tape was used for the border near the top of the card.  The recipe came from Pinterest.

Here is my Valentine:

You are looking at two cards to show the outside and inside.  These cards feature a Cherry Cobbler base with embossed white layers.  The cut out heart is embossed on Cherry Cobbler cs and has three red rhinestones in the upper left.  The white panel on the inside is embossed with a border folder and the sentiment is a very old SU stamp.

And then the treat bags:

The bag started out as an 8x8 square piece of DSP., folded in half diagonally and then each side folded over across the middle.  The 3x3 card will have a small clear bag attached and filled with treats.  This will then be slipped inside the DSP bag.

I'm Back with Gift Card Holders!

Long time no posting. No crafting either, but I had some very good reasons.  Health issues...nothing serious...just enough to lose my mojo.  But the biggest and best reason for not crafting/posting is that our DD gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on Thanksgiving Day!  The little peanut was three weeks early, but what a blessing!  And we are all thrilled beyond words.  Baby, parents, grandparents and uncles are all doing well and are looking forward to Christmas!

Speaking of Christmas, I have some gift card holders to share with you today.  I found the directions here.

I used some long retired SU card stock for the gift card bases and some assorted DSP that was mostly gifted tome recently in a secret sister swap.  I made a birthday one as well, as DS has a birthday coming up close to Christmas.

Thanks for looking and I hope to be back soon!
