Last of the Love Fest Cards

I finished the last of the Love Fest challenges on Sunday.  I was able to complete all of the challenges that SCS and the members companies offered!  Here are the last two cards that I made:

The card above was for a color challenge: brown, turquoise, and pink or yellow.  I started with a Pretty in Pink card base and added a Chocolate Chip panel that was embossed with Swiss Dots.  For the image panel I used a stem from the set Art of Life and stamped with CC ink.  The flower was made from one of the images in the set Polka Dot Punches.  I stamped two blooms, both with CC ink onto PIP and white card stock and then punched them out with the coordinating Five Petal punch.  They were adhered together with a dimensional.  I added a turquoise button to the center for a pop of color.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches: Flap Happy.  The fence was an idea I saw on Pinterest and uses the Word Window punch.

The card below was for the last Love Fest challenge.  We were to make a "love" card using dies.  I made a gate fold card with a fun closure.  This is an idea Dawn Griffith used on some of her Christmas cards.  Oval and scallop oval dies were used for the closure and the inside panel of the card.  the patterned paper is from Bo Bunny, the Alora Collection.  I matted the patterned paper with Kiwi Kiss card stock.  Ribbon was added behind both parts of the closure and the layered panels on the front of the card. the sentiment uses parts of two Paper Smooches sets: Sentiment Sampler and We Connect.

A Magical Day

At Shopping Our Stash this week we are playing tag.  Make a tag or use a tag on your card.  Here's my card for this challenge:

I used some older tools from my stash to make this card.  My white tag was cut using an old red Sizzix die - jumbo scallop tag.   To make the green tag I used ...well, not sure what it is called!  I bought them from SU a long time ago.  They are a set of little round discs in various sizes that you put your pencil into and then trace around the outer edge of the item you want to make a layer for..Layer Ease... maybe?  Whew!  That hurt my brain trying to recall the name!

Moving on to easier things, here is a list of other items used to make this card:

Stamps: Paper Smooches: A Magical Spring, Impress: oval
Paper:  Gina K white, SU: Certainly Celery, Daffodil Delight, Garden Green, patterned paper: Nikki Sivils: My Friend Birdie
Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Copics
Misc:  1/2 inch circle punch, scallop border punch, Sizzix jumbo scallop die, Layer Ease

TAG!  You're it!

Candy Cane Christmas

How are you coming on your Christmas cards?  What?  You haven't started yet?  Well then, please join us at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges as we run our challenges year round.   You'll get a great head start on your holiday cards!  This is my eighth card already!

This week at Holly Jolly Judy has a sketch to jump start your creative mojo.  Check it out on our challenge blog and see what the Design Team has created to inspire you.

I had fun using my stash for this card!  It begins with a Crumb Cake card base layered with some patterned paper from My Minds Eye: All is Bright.  I cut a scalloped circle with another pattern from the same collection using a Spellbinders die.  I ran three strips of Washi tape across the middle of the card.  These tapes were given to me in a holiday swap and I was happy to be able to use them.  I die cut three circles from Crumb Cake, Pool Party, and Riding Hood Red.  On the layered circles I placed two felt candy canes from a Martha Stewart holiday sticker pack. I added a pre-tied bow in green to mimic the design in the wider Washi tape.  The trio of embellishments in the lower left corner are from a pack of doodads that coordinate with the patterned paper collection.  I love matchy-matchy!

Thanks for looking and I hope you'll join us in our sketch challenge at Holly Jolly this week!

Spring Basket: Sketch 7

I'm using Sketch #7 for my card today along with the image Spring Baskets, both are from From The Heart Stamps.

The card base and image panel are Gina K white card stock; layering weight and base weight.  I colored the image with Copics, taking the colors from the strip of floral Washi tape.  I colored a second bow and fussy cut it and then popped it up with dimensionals.  The bloom is a Sizzlet die cut layered with a Maya Road flocked flower and rhinestone brad.  I popped up the layered flower with dimensionals.  Four patterns of Washi tape completes the sketch.

Thanks for looking and I hope you'll join in on the Sketch Challenge!

Spring Basket

This sweet image is the February Free Stamp of the Month at  From The Heart Stamps.  I colored the image with Copics, using colors found in the patterned background paper from We Are Memory Keepers: "Simply Spring " collection.  I layered the image and patterned paper with Groovy Guava, a long retired in color from SU.  Two epoxy egg charms were added for embellishments and some Stickles was added for some subtle sparkle.

Love Fest Cards Continued

These two cards are for Days 7 and 8 for Splitcoast's Love Fest!  I hope to complete all eleven challenges.

I stamped the image from Inky Antics onto Crumb Cake card stock and colored in the details with Copics. I used Whisper White Craft ink and a sponge eye shadow applicator to add the white to the snowman and ground.  The image was cut into three pieces and mounted onto a layer of black and then onto a top fold Crumb Cake base.  The sentiment is an old SU set called "Greetings 4 You".

For this card I also used Crumb Cake for the base and embossed layer.  I sponged some Crumb Cake ink over the raised embossed images.  I used a stamp from Studio G that was a gift from my secret sister.  The image was stamped with Memento Rich Cocoa and colored with Copics.  I also sponged the edges of the image panel with Crumb Cake ink. Stickles was added for some spots of sparkle on the flowers.  The layers behind the image are Island Indigo and Calypso Coral.  Ribbon was added and a button was tied on with brown Baker's Twine

Love Fest Cards

These two cards are for Days 5 and 6 on Splitcoast for their Love Fest Challenges.

A white base and top layer (Gina K) with a layer of black (SU) sandwiched between.  I used a silhouette stem die from Taylored Expressions.  Red gingham ribbon provides a splash of color.  Dimensionals pop the top layer up.

A white card base (Gina K) with a strip of Going Gray, black, and Basic Gray (all SU).  an image from SU's "Doodle That" was stamped in black and colored in with Copics.  The image was cut out with an oval die and then mounted onto a scallop die in Daffodil Delight (SU).  Ribbon was tied into a bow around the center panel and a pair of Dew Drops was added to the left and right panels.

I'm planning out my idea for today's LF card.  Will be back with it later.  Thanks for looking!

Itty Bitty Buds

Dig way down to the bottom of your patterned paper pile and pull out your oldest designer paper for our challenge this week at Shopping Our Stash.

For my card I used some SU DSP from '07 called Petals & Paisleys.  I was able to reduce the number of scraps left of this package by using several patterns on my card!  Woohoo!

I paired the patterned paper with an older SU set called  "Itty Bitty Buds" .  Ink colors used are Old Olive, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron, and Tempting Turquoise.  I also used ribbon, brads, and dimensionals to complete the card.

Thanks for looking and please join us in our challenge  this week!

Whirly Twirly Birthday

I'm on a birthday card-making roll because of a swap I joined on Splitcoast.   This one is for the children's category.

I started with a top fold white card base and added a layer of Bermuda Bay.  Next is a layer of DSP (SU) with the cute little tree and flower scene.  I stamped the pinwheel from The Stamps of Life set called "pinwheels2stamp" onto two patterns of paper and then did some paper piecing. A rhinestone brad was added to the center.   I trimmed the sharp end of a colored toothpick off and attached the pick to the back side of the pinwheel.  Using dimensionals I attached this to the card front.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and was stamped in VersaFine ink.

Shadow-Box Birthday Card

Yesterday I showed you a masculine birthday card that I made for the current challenge at Shopping Our Stash.  Today I have another birthday card, but this one is more feminine.  This card is the prototype for a swap I am in at SCS.  Here is the front:

It looks like a typical landscape card, but when you open it up you see this:

This clever fold is a shadow-box card!   I found the tutorial here.   Here is the list of tools and supplies I used to make this fun fold card:

Stamps: All SU: Fresh Vintage, Vintage Verses, Create a Cupcake
Paper:  SU textured white, Crumb Cake, Riding Hood Red, DSP: Everyday Enchantment
Ink: black, Riding Hood Red, Crumb Cake
Misc: sponge daubers, ribbon, SU Framelits Labels, red liner tape, dimensionals

HaPPy BiRThDaY

Are you ready for the next challenge at Shopping Our Stash?  This week the challenge is a   birthday theme - birthday card or layout, tag, etc.

For my card this week I combined elements from two cards I saw on Pinterest.  I decided to make a masculine card as I needed an idea for an upcoming swap.  After making this prototype I quickly made five more just like it.

From the bottom layer up here are the deets:

The card base is SU's Naturals ivory card stock.   Next is a layer of Early Espresso.  Then another layer of Naturals ivory that was embossed with a wood grain folder.  The sentiment (SU's "Alphabet Soup") was stamped in Basic Brown ink onto ivory card stock and sponged with the same color ink.  A dark brown metal photo corner was placed in the lower corner.  Behind the sentiment is a layer of patterned paper from DCWV" "Natural Matstack".  Behind that is a layer of Early Espresso.  Below the sentiment are three strips of patterned paper also from the DCWV matstack.  A button tied with jute twine and two aged copper brads embellish the card.

Thanks for looking and I hope you'll join us in adding to your birthday card stash, while using your stash at the same time!

Joy

Our challenge this week at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges is brought to you by MeighanShe is asking for the use of punches or dies - two of them - on our creations.  We also have Bugaboo Digi Stamps back as our sponsor this week.   So check out the challenge blog to see how you can win free digis!   I love creating with BAB images!

For my card I used a spellbinders Labels Ten die to cut a frame in the patterned paper.  Before I popped this paper up with foam tape onto a layer of Real Red card stock and onto a white card base, I knotted some red ribbon on the side.  The image was colored with Copics and centered inside the frame.  I used a yellow Sizzix die to cut one large and two small stars from So Saffron card stock and sponged the edges of each with So Saffron ink.  The sentiment is a Hero Arts stamp and I masked the sentiment to use just the word "joy".  I may just go back to my card and add some red Stickles to Rudolf's nose and some diamond Stickles to the string of stars.  Isn't it funny how you post your card and then see ways to improve?  Or maybe this just happens to me...a lot!

Thanks for looking and I hope you will join us at Holly Jolly!

Cascading Card

This is the card I am giving to DH on Valentine's Day.

I followed this very well-done tutorial here for making the cascading card.

His favorite color is green, so I used Always Artichoke for the card base and DSP (Tea & Crumpets).  The frame and sentiment are from Gina K (True Love).  I used a double scallop punch for the borders and an embosslit for the hearts in three darker shades of red.  On one heart I added a silver heart-shaped brad.  On another I stapled on a heart-shaped clip and on the last heart i attached a small charm with a tiny brad.

Be Mine

Today's card is one I made so I could play along with {PIN}spirational Challenges this week.  Their inspiration photo brought to mind two embossing folders I received in a swap.  Here's how I used them:

I embossed a white panel for the front of my card and then embossed some a piece of Riding Hood Red scraps and cut out the hearts to fit inside the embossed outlines.  I added a rhinestone heart and three tiny rhinestones onto the embossed greeting.  This panel was adhered to a Riding Hood Red card base.

Here's the inside:

I embossed a smaller heart folder onto a white Top Note Die cut and then also embossed the heart onto more scraps of red.  I added the smaller heart into the small embossed outline.
