Strawberry Fields Forever

Challenge #95 at Shopping Our Stash is called "Very Vegetable Fruity Fun" and we are asking you to use fruit or vegetable images on your cards and projects.

I have three photos of my card to show you.  Here is the front:

I used supplies from Gina K, SU and Cricut for my card.  The card base is Black Onyx from Gina K as is one of the strawberries (Red Hot) and the leaves (Fresh Asparagus),  The patterned paper is also Gina K from the Berries and Vines collection.  The second strawberry is from SU Real Red card stock.  The strawberries were cut from the Preserves cartridge from Cricut. After putting the layers together I ran the strawberry pair through the Big Shot with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

If you look at the upper right area of the card you will see a notch cut out and tucked inside is a gift card!  But wait, there's more!  Here is the first opening of the card:

Here is the card with the top portion folded up and over for ease of taking the photo.  You are looking at the portion under the gift card flap.  The sentiment is from SU's Curvy Verses and is stamped on a white piece punched with the Modern Label punch (or is it Decorative Label?)  A smaller Cricut strawberry is in the corner.  But wait, there's more!

This is what you see when you open up the entire card the regular way!   A Top Note die cut from white card stock  to write a personal message and another Cricut strawberry!  I watched this video on You Tube for the inspiration for this card.

Holly Jolly Sketch

Here is my card for the Holly Jolly sketch challenge this week.  We are sponsored by Bugaboo this week, so stop by our challenge blog to see how you can win 7 free digis!   Here is my card:

I used two different patterned papers on my card front.  One paper is from Authentique Wonder collection and the stripe pattern is unknown to me.  I did some simple  x stitching on the seams between the papers with brown Baker's Twine.  I used Santas sleigh tag from bugaboo and after printing it off on white card stock i sponged all over with Crumb Cake ink. I traced the tag onto Riding Hood Red and again onto Early Espresso card stock to make my two layers.  some two tone Baker's Twine was added to the top of the tag.  Some coordinating green velvet rick rack goes across the card front.

Over at Bitten by the Bug 2 the challenge this week is all about eggs.   I went with an Easter egg of sorts with a chick hatching out.  Details about the card below.

I'm so happy to be rediscovering my Cricut machine after it sat dormant for way too long.  I'm having way too much fun getting ideas from YouTube videos, blogs, and challenges.  I'll be back tomorrow with some stamped cards for Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges and Shopping Our Stash.

Bee You

Today I created this card for the challenge at Paper Playtime which is to use a bee on your card.  Take a look!

I used images from two cartridges for my card.  The hive comes from Create A Critter and the bees come from Create A Critter 2.  I decided to tuck one of the bees into the hive with just it's face peeking out.   I had to reposition one of the antennae in order for it to fit on the outside of the hive. The second bee is popped up with dimensionals.  I used Going Gray and Basic Gray for the hive and then sponged the edges with Going Gray ink.  For the bees I sponged the edges with So Saffron ink and also used Pretty In Pink chalk for their cheeks.  The flying bee has Stickles on it's wings.  The card base is white followed by a layer of black and then a lyer of Sahara Sand which was embossed with a hexagon folder.  I turned the embossed design to the back before adhering to the card front.  The sentiment is from the Stamps of Life: Hive4Bees and was stamped with VersaFine black ink.

Chocolate Silhouette

More Cricut fun to share!   And what a difference a new blade makes!

For this card I used the cartridge "Seasonal Cake Art" from Martha Stewart Crafts.  On page 37 of the manual I used the bunny silhouette and oval.  I cut the rabbit silhouette from Chocolate Chip card stock and the oval from SU DSP: Bella Birds.  I used a second pattern from Bella Birds for the background layer of the card and also another layer of Chocolate Chip card stock.  For the inside of the card I used the same patterns of paper and card stock and cut the ovals with Spellbinders dies.  The phrase was found on page 57 of the manual.  Brown grosgrain ribbon and some pearls were used to embellish the card.  I'm going to submit this card for the challenge at Bitten by the Bug : "Bring on the Bunnies".

A "New" Old Toy

Recently I have been enjoying an "old toy" that has been collecting dust for far too long.  I dusted off my "Baby Bug" and have been searching through You Tube videos to reacquaint myself with this machine.  I was so pleased to discovered it still worked!  I've also been looking for sales on cartridges, because the ones I had from way back when are sort of boring!  One of my newest purchases was Teddy Bear Parade.  Here is a card I made to get in some practice planning and cutting.  I'm going to enter it into the challenge at CARDZ TV.  I hope I don't embarrass myself!

I have some fine tuning to do with my Cricut skills, but it's fun to switch things up a bit.  The blade probably needs to be changed as it is the original one!  Ha!

Cartridge: Teddy Bear Parade
Paper:  Gina K white for the card base, SU black, Whisper White, Garden Green, Certainly Celery, Wild Wasabi, patterned paper - unknown
Stamp: SU
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Certainly Celery, white correction pen
Misc: Spellbinders Labels Ten, Sizzix Oval #1 (Red), button brad, dimensionals

I just added my card to the challenge here at Mark's Finest Papers Simple Salutations!

Christmas Greenery

It's my turn to choose the challenge at Holly Jolly this week and I went with Christmas Greenery.  Fred She Said Designs is our sponsor this week, so check out our challenge blog to see what you could win.   And of course you will want to check out the beautiful cards our Design Team has to show you!

Here is my card:

I was inspired by Hazel's entry last week with her use of glittery gold ribbon, so I pulled out my glitter tape for this card.  I used a FSS image called Christmas Ornaments 2  and colored it in with Copics.  I also used a clear glitter pen between the stripes of color and added some gold Stickles to the spots on the ornament and to the tops of the banners.

Image: Christmas Ornaments 2 - FSS,  sentiment: Paper Smooches: Christmas Sampler
Paper:  Always Artichoke, Riding Hood Red, patterned paper: Basic Grey
Ink: Copics, Crumb Cake ink for sponging
Misc:  Spellbinders oval dies, Stickles, teeny gold brads, glitter tape, clear glitter pen

This is card number nine going into my Christmas Card stash!

Spring Basket with Sketch #8

Today I'm using the image Spring Baskets with Sketch Challenge #8 for From The Heart Stamps.  Check us out and join in on the fun!   I used this same image last week as well, but it's so much fun to color, that I pulled it out again and changed the color combo for a new look

Image:  Spring Basket from From The Heart Stamps

Paper:  I used some retired colors from SU: Barely Banana, Pale Plum, and one other that I don't know the name of.  I also used Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum,  both current colors. A strip of vellum runs across the bottom of the sketch.

Ink:  Copics and Bics were used to color the image.

Misc:  A doily  was used for the circular element of the sketch.  I also used an embossing folder on the three shades of purple squares.
