Red/White/and Blue @ Holly Jolly

We have another fun challenge ready for you at Holly Jolly.   This week our theme is a color combo, namely red/white/and blue.  Here is what I made for the challenge:

My card has a side fold with a layer of Riding Hood Red.   A white layer was embossed with a snowflake folder.  In Riding Hood Red a Labels Ten die was used to cut the next layer. this piece was embossed with a poinsettia folder.  The blue flourish and white snowflake were cut using a Cricut cartridge (December 25th).  I added Stickles to the snowflake and when dry, I added rhinestones to the flourish and snowflake.

I'm getting a great collection of holiday cards made ahead of time for this year.  How about you?  Please join us each week for a new challenge!  It's a fun way to get started on your holiday cards!

When I get the last category completed i will post it here too.

Monchromatic Muse

I'll start by saying I love the patterned paper used in the background.  It took all I had to cut into it;  I was nearly hyperventilating!  Oh...the...pain!  The paper is from a 6 x 6 pad by MME: Indie Chic Nutmeg and I want need more!

My card starts with an ivory base with the edges sponged in Crumb Cake.  Next is a layer of Crumb Cake, also sponged.  Then my beloved paper was sponged as well. I wrapped a piece of Naturals lace by Kaiser Craft and attempted (and failed miserably) to sew around the edges of these layers before adhering to the card base.  The tag was cut from another pattern from the same paper pad using the Cricut cartridge Tags, Bags, Boxes, and More, page 90.  some Crumb Cake ribbon was looped through the top of the tag.  The leaves and layered flowers were cut using the Cricut cartridge: Flower Shoppe, page 14 and 22.  All edges were sponged with Crumb Cake ink.  The leaves are cut from Sahara Sand and the flowers from some scraps from the same paper pad.  A pearl brad  holds all the flower layers together.  I wrinkled the leaves and rolled the tips of the flowers for dimension.

Holly Jolly: Ribbon and Embossing

It's time for a new challenge at Holly Jolly and the opportunity to add to your holiday card stash!  This week we are to use ribbon and embossing (heat or dry) on our cards.  Here is my card for this week:

I started with a piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock cut to about 51/2 by 5.  I then used the Creative Memories Border System and cut the right edge with the ribbon border punch.   After punching, I trimmed the paper down to 51/2 by 41/4 and placed this panel into a poinsettia embossing folder and ran it through the Big Shot.  Next I took some ivory seam binding and wove it into the openings created by the punch and tied the ends into a bow.  This embossed panel was then adhered to some Garden Green card stock before I added three pearl brads to the centers of the poinsettias. Finally I adhered this layered panel onto an ivory top fold card base.

I'm looking forward to seeing your creations made for this challenge!

As always, thanks for looking!

Cricut Cards

I made two cards today using my Cricut along with stamps, patterned papers and embellishments.  Here is the first card.  The list of supplies will follow.

The supplies used on this card were from lots of different companies:
Stamps: Paper Smooches: Needle Little Love
Paper:  Card stock:  SU Crumb Cake, Pink Pirouette, Creamy Caramel, Whisper White; patterned paper: Memory Box: Pixie
Ink: MTB, Crumb Cake
Misc: ribbon spool: Jolee's, ribbon: Club Scrap, Cricut Cartridge: Artiste (CTMH) page 41, safety pin, ribbon rose, eyelet border punch (SU), kraft die cut tag: Maya Road

This second card also has a Crumb Cake base and layered with patterned paper from Memory Box : Pixie.   Pink Pirouette card stock was also used, as was the same stamp set from Paper Smooches: Needle Little Love.  I did some sewing on this card, crooked of course!  The lace is from KaiserCraft.  The button is from Maya Road and was tied with linen thread.  The rolled flower was cut using the Cricut cartridge: Flower Shoppe as were the leaves; The shapes can be found on pages 13 and 14 of the manual.  I added a flat back pearl to the center.

HJ Humorous Challenge

This week at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges we are hoping to tickle your funny bone with our humorous holiday cards.  And the perfect sponsor for this challenge is Bugaboo Digi Stamps!  Please join us in creating laugh out loud holiday cards!

Here is my card for this challenge:

My adventurous little mouse was caught stirring in the Christmas tree and got hung up on a candy cane!  The image I used is from Bugaboo called: "CandyCane Critters- Mouse".  The base of my card is Crumb Cake with a layer of black card stock.  Next is a layer of patterned card stock from some of my neglected stash, although I do not know the company this is from.  The string of lights is an old, old embellishment also from my stash. I know I've mentioned this many times before, but it feels so good to be able to dig into my hoarded supplies!

Holly Jolly: Creative Folds

It was my turn to choose the challenge over at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges and I went with Creative Folds.  You will see a fun variety of folds by our Design Team, so be sure to check them out!

Here is my card featuring the Teepee fold that I saw here on You Tube.

Here is another view:

And another view:

The card base is Always Artichoke layered with some patterned paper.  I used some satin bow trim at the top and just cut a section of three bows and wrapped it around attaching the piece with glue dots.  Seam binding was attached under two edges and tied together to hold the card closed.  The card will fold flat for mailing and if made smaller in size like mine, will fit in an A2 envelope.

Here is an open view showing a clear sticker with a printed sentiment purchased at Hobby Lobby.  There is also plenty of room to write a personal message.

The gingerbread men are also stickers that were purchased at Hobby Lobby.  They are popped up with dimensionals on layered ovals cut with Spellbinders dies.

I Love A Rainy Day

It's foggy and misty here today, so the challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 is perfect.  The challenge is to use an umbrella image from any Cricut cartridge for their "April Showers Umbrella Challenge".  I used the images from page 28 in Create A Critter.

My card starts with a Going Gray base that was stamped using VersaMark Dazzle ink and a stamp from Alextamping.  The oval "puddle" is a stamp from Impress Rubber Stamps, also stamped with VersaMark Dazzle.  You can't see the subtle sparkle in this photo, but it's there and adds a touch of fun to the gray card base!

The sentiment was cut from Tempting Turquoise and Pacific Point card stock.  The cute little duck was cut from black, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, and Daffodil Delight.  I sponged the edges of the duck with So Saffron ink. The umbrella was cut from Real Red and patterned paper (Jillibean soup: Sweet and Sour).  The umbrella is popped up with dimensionals.

Handmade Notebooks

I put together a few little notebooks using handmade paper (not by me!) and other odd bits and pieces of paper items.  I sewed them together with Scrapper's Floss and then added some beads to the tails of the threads.   Some of them will be used as gifts for the hostesses of the swaps I join.  Others might be tucked into secret sister packages.   Here is a sampling of the notebooks:

The covers aren't decorated yet, but I'm thinking of leaving them blank.  Here is what some of the insides look like:

Each of these notebooks have a coin envelope with tags tucked inside, a vellum envelope with tags inside and then three or four different kinds of lightweight papers.  I'm thinking the recipient can tuck this into their purse and use it to jot notes or other info when they are out and about.

Wish Big

This is a card I made to enter into the challenge at Cardz TV for their "Mix it Up" challenge.  I used card stock and patterned paper and stamps from Gina K's "Birthday Hoot" collection.

I colored the image with Copics and paper pieced the balloons and birthday hat.  The sentiment on the front of the card is from SU's "Word Play".  It was punched with a tag punch and then layered and trimmed.  It was tied with some crinkled ribbon and popped up with dimensionals.  I had a plastic gift embellie that matched the background print, so I placed it in the lower corner.  The inside sentiment is from "Birthday Hoot" (Gina K).

Mini Flip Fold Album

I made another album for my daughter to use for her baby's photos.  This one is a mini flip fold album.  Here are the front and back covers:

I used patterned paper, card stock, and stickers from an older SU scrapping kit.  Here are the photos of the inside flaps and then the scrapbook fully opened.

I watched several You Tube videos to help me put this together.

A Meandering Mini Album with a Twist

I got the idea for this cute mini album from watching this You Tube video.  The video is well made and has easy to follow directions.  I have learned so much from this talented person and have subscribed to her channel so I can continue to learn.

Except for the 12 x 12 piece of card stock used to fold this 3 inch mini, all other materials were scraps and pieces left over from a scrapping kit.

Here is the cover of the mini album:

Here are a couple of the inside pages:

(The diagonal pocket is the "twist" in this meandering album.)

And finally the tags I tucked into the top, side, and diagonal pockets:

This mini will eventually be sent to one of my swap partners.

Thanks for looking and I hope you'll take the time to check out the video in the link at the top of this post!

HJ: Christmas Music

The theme this week at Holly Jolly Christmas Challenges is Christmas Music.  Check out all the lovely creations from our Design Team!

My card is made from items in my stash.   I started with a River Rock card base and sponged the edges with river Rock and Crumb Cake inks.   Next up is a layer of Riding Hood Red card stock with Crumb Cake ink sponged on all four sides.  Then comes patterned paper from Authentique, the Wonder collection.  This piece was also sponged with River Rock and Crumb Cake inks.  The main image and sentiment are pieces of card candy that I purchased several years ago at a stamp workshop.  It was time to stop hoarding them and put them to use!  I finished the card with three glittered brads.

So what Christmas tune will you be humming as you make your entry?  Please join us!  I'm looking forward to seeing your creations!

Mini Gift Bag Album

Here are some photos of a mini album I recently made from two gift card sized bags and envelopes.

This is the front of the album featuring patterned paper, ruffled ribbon, Thickers, and a pewter charm.

This is an inside view of all the pockets.  The pockets were made with A2 sized kraft envelopes sealed and then cut in half.  Each pocket was covered with patterned paper and has a tabbed folder tucked inside.

This is an example of the tabbed folders.  Each one is covered with patterned paper and the tabs have large epoxy brads on them.  In the lower right corner of the photo is the binder clip tied with ribbons used to keep the album closed.

The following photos show the pewter charms on each of the envelopes.

This album was a gift to my daughter.  I was inspired to make one after watching oodles of You Tube videos on mini albums.  (Insomnia has its merits!)
