Hurry Up and Wait

Here are three projects I've been working on.  The ideas came from watching You Tube videos.  None of them are complete.  I'm stuck on what to do next.  Well I know what needs to be done, but stuck on how I want to continue.

This album was made with nine coin envelopes (3 1/2 x 6 1/2) and chipboard covers.  It's bound by the flaps of the envelopes with ribbons/seam binding.  I still need to make the tags to go inside the envelopes, decorate/embellish the pages and covers.  I'm waiting for a theme to come to mind.

This second album was made with four small white paper bags (3 1/2 x 6 3/4) and chipboard covers.  It has pockets and flaps that lift up to reveal more pockets.  This album also needs tags and embellishments. Again waiting for a theme idea to come to mind.

This last album is my most recent.  It's a waterfall pocket album made with four sets of two folded business size envelopes and also has chipboard covers. I bound this one using my Bind It All.  Like the previous albums, it needs tags and decorating.  And also just like the other two I haven't thought of a theme to get me started on the decorating.

So as you can see I've been busy, but still have some unfinished business to complete.  Sometimes the mojo is just out of my reach!   If/when I get them finished I will post photos of the completed albums.

Holly Jolly and Three Embellishments Challenge

The new challenge for Holly Jolly is make a card with three embellishments. And we have a sponsor this week...Bugaboo!  My card uses their image called Joy.

This is another of mine card that turned out very differently from my original plan.  This happens to me more often than not!  But I think it turned out okay, considering it was not what I had in mind.   So I have a white card base with a layer of green.  the top panel is all one piece of white.  I embossed the top portion with an ornament embossing folder.  Next I added a strip of narrow paper tape and then a scored line.  Next is the image with I printed out twice and used the second image, that was colored and fussy cut(well I actually colored the bottom image too, wink!), and popped it on top with dimensionals.  I added some Stickles to the highlight of the ornament.  Then a scored another line directly under the image and added another strip of paper tape.  So I'm counting as my embellishments: Stickles, paper tape and embossing.  I imagine I could also count my 3D layer as an embellishment as well!

Thanks for looking and I hope you will join us in this challenge!

Paper Bag Card and Gift Card Holder

This card and gift card holder began as a 10 3/4 x 5" lunch bag.   I trimmed the top off to a finished size of 7x5.  I glued the two side edges of the bottom flap to make a pocket to hold a gift card.  This bottom portion is covered and layered with patterned paper and card stock.  The top portion of the bag has a layer of patterned paper and an image panel.  I also glued one layer of the gusseted sides of the bag closed.    The Crumb Cake insert is 7x5.

I left the top portion of the insert blank for now, as I'm not sure how I will use this card.   It can be used for either Father's Day or as a birthday card. The stamp sets from SU used were: Summer Afternoon (colored with Copics) and Vintage Verses.  The patterned paper is Urban Oasis.  Two sets of Framelits were used: Apothecary Accents and Labels Collection.

Hello Crafty Friend

I'm making several of these cards to tuck into my packages when I mail in my swaps for the swap hostesses.  For this pair I used some of the new In Colors from SU.  The card base is Strawberry Slush, so pretty!  Coastal Cabana and Crisp Cantaloupe were used for the scallops and butterflies.  The main images/sentiment are from Paper Smooches: I Heart Art and the little dots are from Stamps by Judith.  The butterflies were cut and embossed with the embosslit: Beautiful Wings.  The card is finished off with Baker's Twine.  I CASEd the card layout from the 2012-13 SU catalog and idea book.

hello

Here is another quick and simple card in cheerful yellow!  The layered flower is from a SU flower kit with a large brad in the center.  The felt leaves are also SU.  The plaid background is a craft tape that I found on clearance at a Staples store.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  I added some pearls here and there for whimsy.  The card base is Daffodil Delight.

Splish Splash

This is the last page (#20!) that was made for the album.  Although I was asked to continue making pages!   Oh well...okay!

For my first experience with making scrapbook pages, I am quite proud of how all the pages turned out.

Squares and Scallops

Another CASE of a card from the SU 2012 catalog.  I know, so last year!  Well I have plans to CASE some of the awesome cards from the new catalog too!

I'm loving the new In Color from SU called Baked Brown Sugar and used it here for the card base.  The white layer was embossed with a stripes folder.  The textured brown layer may look familiar to those who cross stitch; it's a heavy perforated paper that can be used for cross stitch designs.  A very old SU set, Itty Bitty Background was used for the postage stamp sized pieces in various colors of ink.  Digging through my embellishment stash I came up with a button, a safety pin, a resin dahlia, and some Baker's Twine to adorn the layered squares.  The butterfly was in my odds and ends dish of leftover bits and pieces from other projects. I believe it was from a Martha Stewart punch.

Burlap and Corduroy

This card is a CASE  from the 2012 SU catalog.  I like to go through my catalogs and recreate cards using the stamps and papers I have.

One of the things I am most excited about this is that I used one of the gazillion corduroy buttons I have stuffed in a jar!  Do you own some embellishments that you have way too many of?  I could name a few others in my stash, but won't!

Other deets about this card include: burlap trim, patterned paper from Simple Stories: Harvest Lane, Cajun Craze ink and card stock, Crumb Cake card base.  SU Labels Framelits, SU stamps sets: So Happy For You and Love and Care.

Page 18.  I love the little onsie and cap!   The color combo on this is pink, blue, and brown, although the brown looks more like black here.

Beaded Pins

I'm practicing making some beaded pins for an upcoming swap.  I used my two practice pins on a card to show them off.  Tell me what you think!

For this card I used Baked Brown Sugar, a new SU In Color for the card base.   I had a DCWV mat stack that had some patterns that blended perfectly with this new color.  Some Cherry Cobbler was used as an accent color behind the patterned paper.  Crumb Cake was cut with a Lacey Circle die to mat the second piece of patterned paper.  The copper flower was a recent purchase at Michael's and of course my beaded pins are tucked behind.  The sentiment is from SU.

Page 17 was mostly from the Cricut cartridge The First Few Years, but I also added some raindrop shaped bling to the card stock drops.

Button Fairy

For fun and a bit of a self challenge, I joined a swap on SCS to make "Button Fairies".  I watched a couple of You Tube videos to give me some idea of how these are made, but I'm not sure mine are quite right.  I guess the hostess or other participants will let me know!  It's too late for this swap, as I already mailed them in, but if you have any advice for future button fairies, please let me know.  TIA!

Sorry for the glare, but I had these packaged up in clear envelopes before taking the photo.  So basically I used some Blush Blossom  and metallic silver card stock with an Uptown stamp and Staz On and Memento black inks.  A flattened bottle cap frames the face and is attached to the silver card stock wings.  A row of paper flowers and a bow are tucked under the bottle cap.  A string of various sized buttons and beads are wired together to form the body.

Thinking of You

Yellow is one of my favorite colors.  It's such a happy color!  This quick card took just minutes to put together.  It probably took longer for the Stickles to dry than it did to put the entire card together!  I used a Crumb Cake base and a layer of DSP from My Minds Eye: Indie Chic: Nutmeg.  The sentiment is from SU: Happy For You.  I used a corrugated flower and one of my larger buttons tied with linen thread. I squeezed some Stickles on the ridges of the flower.

I love how  page 15 turned out!  The heart paper is from SU and has white embossed hearts.

Thanks for looking!  I'll be back later with a quick and simple card to share.

Celebrate

My basket of ribbon scraps was overflowing and it was time to thin it out.  As I was sorting through the pieces this stitched felt ribbon and the wide striped ribbon caught my eye.   So I put my not so fun project on hold and made this card.

I used the Spots and Dots embossing folder for the background.  Then I used an acrylic 3D sticker for the main image.  The banner is Washi Tape on white card stock and held in place with a Tim Holtz memo pin.  That's it!

Rub Ons and Pearls

Here is a quick card using rub ons for the sentiment.   I like to pull these out every once in awhile when making cards.  This 5 inch square card has a layer of Soft Suede card stock punched with the SU spiral punch.  The patterned paper is unknown.  I used a green twill tape at the bottom of this layer and it is popped up with dimensionals.  A row of adhesive backed pearls accent the sentiment.

Thanks Friend

This card is an unusual size for me to make; it's 5 x 7.  I needed a larger base to hold all of the layers used.  The patterned papers are from My Minds Eye: Lost and Found: Sunshine. I also used a scrap from a brown paper bag.  All the papers were sponged with Crumb Cake ink.  Fibers, a corrugated button, and a brad embellish the card.  The bird is a 3D multilayer sticker from K & Company.  The sentiment is from Mark's Finest Papers: Autumn Friendship.

Butterflies and Flowers

Have you ever had a card idea in your head, but couldn't get it to transfer onto paper?  That's what happened to me with this card.  It had me all...twitterpated!

I began with the white card base and embossed (Divine Swirls) layer in white.  I then added two patterns of Twitterpated DSP from SU.  I added my stamped elements (a Sizzix/ Hero Arts set), some popped up with dimensionals. I then layered this with Baja Breeze, but it didn't look right.  So I switched out the blue for Riding Hood Red, but it still wasn't working for me.  So I sponged the bottom piece of DSP with Blushing Bride ink and added some narrow ribbon and a ribbon slide that I filled in with Stickles.  Not loving it, but it's growing on me!

The flowers were stamped twice and the second set was fussy cut and popped up with dimensionals over the first stamped image.  Candi dots were added to the flower centers.
