Bee Happy

I made a beehive shaped card using a Cricut cartridge called Wild Cards.

Before I sent this card off and after this photo was taken, I went back and did some sponging around the edges with some distress ink.  It added some dimension and also toned down the bright yellow hive a bit.  Sorry I forgot to take a photo before mailing.  Here is the inside of the card:

This was a fun card to put together.  I CASEd it from a card in the July 2010 "cards" magazine.

It's a flat card, as in it doesn't open up, like a postcard of sorts!  Here's the recipe:

Paper: SU: Crumb Cake, patterned paper stack
Stamp:  Simon Says Stamps
Ink: Gina K
Misc: sewing machine, K & Co kraft layered flowers, Maya Road kraft tag, rhinestones

You Choose the Sentiment

Thank you for stopping by my blog today!  I have a fun card to share with you!  Those of you who know me, know that I love cards that move!  Cards that are interactive get a big "like" from me!

Here is a CASE of a card I found in the July 2011 issue of "cards" magazine.

On this card the arrow slides up and down the track, so you can choose the sentiment you want!  How fun is that!?!   Now if I were really creative I would have stamped my own list of sentiments.  And I'll probably do that the next time I make a card like this.  But for this one I took the easy way out and used a stamp from SU; So Many Sayings.  I also used from SU the Word Window Punch and their retired arrow punch, as well as the patterned paper, card stock and linen thread.  in fact, except for the ink (Gina K black) all the rest is SU (even the eyelet!)!

Here's the inside of the card featuring one of the patterned papers from a SU paper stack:

Sorry for the photo color. Editing skills are not my forte.  The paper is not yellow, but a cream in real life.

Bloomer Trim Card

The card I'm sharing today is a "While I" card.   Let me explain.

While my mojo was taking a break, I looked through several "cards" magazines and found a a card to CASE.
While I  wasn't card making, I took some time to straighten out some baskets, boxes, and drawers of embellishments and this trim caught my attention and reminded me of a card I marked to CASE.
While I had some patterned paper on my table from a previous project, I noticed some that would coordinate with said trim from above for the card I wanted to CASE.  So here is my "While I" card, front and inside:

Stamps: Circle of Friendship from SU
Paper:  Naturals Ivory card stock, patterned paper stack, Midnight Muse all from SU
Ink: Midnight Muse
Misc: Bloomers trim from Webster's Pages, Sizzix Sizzlet label die, circle punches, Martha Stewart border punch, Sizzix/SU Top Note die, rhinestones

Finding Mojo

Every once in awhile my mojo goes missing  as it did recently.  However after I watched a You Tube video tutorial on swing cards, it seems to have returned.  Yeah!  Here is the tutorial that was responsible for its return.

I'm not sure if I'm finished with the card just yet, but here is the swing card front:

The patterned papers are from SU .  The card base is from ivory card stock. cut to 4 1/1 x 7 1/2 and scored at 2 7/8 and again at 3 7/8.    Refer to the vieo on how to use your diecutting machine to cut the "swing" part of the card.

The image is a clear stamp from Imaginise.  I colored it with Copics after stamping it on ivory card stock with Memento black ink.   Then i popped the image up with dimensionals on top of a scallop circle, also from ivory card stock.  A tiny bow was tied from linen thread and added to the image.

Here is the card when swung open:

The sentiment is from WPlus9 .  I should also mention the swing part of the card is a framelit labels die from SU.

Over the next couple of days I'll be sharing more cards from a recent card making spree!  I hope you'll come back!

Altered Mini Photo Album

Here is the front and back of a mini photo album I altered for a friend:

I covered the front and back (and inside) of a mini photo album that I purchased at a thrift store with some SU DSP and card stock.  I used black duct tape on the spine.  The front is decorated with some flower trim, crocheted trim and Thickers.   The letters are the initials of a friend on You Tube who will be having brain surgery in the near future.   She is asking her friends to make 4 x 6 baseball type cards to send to her and she will take them with her when she goes out of state for her surgery.   I decided to make an album that she can keep the cards she receives in.

Here is the front side of an index page in the album:

The sentiment is from Hero Arts and the puffy butterfly stickers were some I received in a RAK.  The back side of the original page has numbered lines where she can write the name of the person's card in order of the pocket pages

Here is the 4 x 6 card I made for her.  The personal info that she requested is on the back on the back side (no photo).

The sentiment is a Funny Bones stamp from Riley & Co.  The image is a partial image from an Art Impressions stamp.  The card was embellished with flocked and paper flowers with clear rhinestone brads in the centers.  On the far right is some black vinyl trim from Michael's.

Card Candy for SCS Swap

I joined a swap on Splitocaststampers to make card candy.  I signed up for two groups.  One spot was for generic candy suitable for feminine cards and the other was generic candy suitable for masculine cards.  We were to make four sets of six pieces each.  the first photo shows the feminine category.  The six pieces all fit on the front of my package insert.  The next two pictures show the masculine card candy. These pieces turned out larger in size so I placed three on the front and three on the back of the package insert.

A Summer ATC

I made this cute and quick ATC for a swap on Splitcoaststampers:

The base is Melon Mambo, with a Kiwi Kiss layer.   The patterned paper is from Webster's Pages and I used a D.O.T.S. stamp to stamp the sentiment directly onto the patterned paper.  The ant image is from SU.  The Popsicle was cut with a Cricut using the Doodlecharms cartridge and is popped up with foam tape.  I cut one layer in white and colored the sticks with a Copic marker.  The second layer was cut from Regal Rose card stock which was covered with Glossy Accents after the image was put together.

Yellow, Black, and White

The person sending out the May Challenge envelope was very generous with images, papers, and embellishments.   I was able to make a second card using some of the contents.  Here is the card front:

Black and White Joy Fold

Using some of the contents in my monthly challenge envelope (a swap on Splitcoaststampers) I made a 4 1/4 square Joy Fold card.  Here is the card when closed:

And here is the best I could do to show you the card when opened:

I followed the video tutorial on Splitcoaststampers that you can find here.

Button Jar

Today's card was for a swap with the theme of jars.  Here's the card and then a short explanation:

The card base is Naturals Ivory card stock.  The buttons and rick rack are patterned paper.  i cut out the buttons and covered then with Glossy Accents.   The jar image is from SU - Perfectly Preserved and was cut out with the matching die. after stamping it on Crumb Cake card stock.  Bakers Twine was tied around the top of the jar and into a fluffy bow.  The inside of the card has three "buttons" in the lower right corner.
