I Love Daisies!

I love daisies!  So I was happy to see the inspiration photo for the Tuesday challenge at The Outlawz.    I searched high and low for my old Peddler's Pack background stamp, watercolor paper and some distress markers.    And here 'tis!

Daisies make me smile inside and out every time!

Easter Blessings

I tried water coloring again.  I'm getting better!   No, really, I am getting better!  This time I kept a light hand with the water and didn't overwork the ink on the paper.  So no pilling!  I used distress markers for the color and a water brush.  I stamped this image twice and this one was my "practice" image.  I liked how it turned out so I didn't want to jinx it by trying it a second time!  The image is from a stamp and die set designed by Stephanie Barnard for Sizzix, simply called "Easter".   The patterned papers are from The Stamps of Life called "Blessings".

Burlap and Butterflies!!

A new paper pad is on the house!  Well, new to me.  I just recieved from Blitsy a paper pad called Falling Leaves from Trimcraft.  O M G!  Beautiful papers, many with texture, in fall colors.  Yes, I know it's spring, but fall is still my favorite season!  So I dug into it right away to make a card that hopefully isn't too fall-ish!  This card was entered for The Outlawz Monday Greeting challenge "It's Hip to be Square"!  I love making square cards!

Corrugated card base.  Patterned paper that looks like burlap.  Burlap banner stickers.  Little paper flowers with rhinestone centers.  SU silhouette image layered and popped up!  and SU sentiment.  Tiny butterflies gifted to me by Sue (waving hi!)  It's good to go!

Zinnia Bouquet

After a quick look at the gallery on Splitcoaststampers, I was inspired by a card that used a panel of corrugated paper and some silhouette flower dies.    I have a stack of forgotten corrugate paper and was happy for a chance to use it.  The die I used is from Taylored Expressions called Zinnia Bouquet.  I kept the card CAS because it was for a Sunday challenge at The Outlawz, which is always a CAS day!  The theme was Anything Goes, so a perfect fit!  The only embellishment was some black jute string tied in a bow!

Life is Better with French Fries

Yesterday was all about strawberries and friends and today it's life and fries!   This card was inspired by the post card that comes with The Stamps of Life monthly stamp set, which for March was frenchfries2stamp!  So fun!  I made some small changes, but I totally loved the sample step card!  Also on TSOL Facebook page someone mentioned using glitter for salt on the fries - genius!   I had to scraplift that idea too!

As usual this card was made for a challenge at The Outlawz!  The Saturday Paper al a Mode theme was Anything Goes!  So happy to be able to use my frenchfries2stamp set!

I happen to think MacDonald's makes the best fries.  How about you?

I'm "Berry" Lucky!

I love the whimsical look of this card!  And it is in one of my all time favorite go to color combos!  It just makes me smile to look at it!  I should make more than one of these, as I can think of several dear friends I could send this card to!  This one was made for the sketch challenge at The Outlawz .  The red checked ribbon is self-adhesive fabric tape - so easy to put on a card and it lays flat!  The black rick rack is a portion of the miles of rick rack in my stash - using it up a few inches at a time!
The big, juicy strawberry and sentiment are stamps from The Stamps of Life.  I popped the berry up with foam tape.

Compass Blueprint

On a rare opportunity I was able to get to a Tuesday Morning store.  Although I didn't find a lot that as of interest to me, I was able to get this Tim Holtz blueprint stamp/die set.  I used it here for the Tuesday color challenge at The Outlawz.  I made it into a masculine birthday card for another challenge I am in with a friend on You Tube.   A SU color wheel helped me choose a color combo.  I would be lost without my SU color wheel!

Through Your Day!

This is an image from Stamping Bella (I think!) that doesn't get enough ink!  So I pulled it out for a monochrimatic challenge at The Outlawz.  I didn't feel like coloring in the image, so kept it as a line design.  I did color the tulips!  And to add more color to the card I sprinkled on some sequins!

If anyone is wondering why I'm only doing/showing challenges at The Outlawz, my reasons are simple:  1.  it's a one stop challenge site, a new fun challenge every day and nothing needs to be mailed in to anyone, so saving on postage!.  2.  The DT teams are so inspiring, supportive and encouraging and 3.   probably my biggest reason, I'm  stash , spending more time creating in my craft room, than on the computer!

Hey There!

I used a freebie die from Spellbinders for my CAS Sunday challenge card for the Outlawz.  Yes, I am behind in posting my daily challenge cards this week!   I've been shopping my stash for some others challenges and have been busy making all kinds of cards.  But back to this one:  I cut small pieces of foam tape to put on the back of this die cut to pop it up - whew!  Time consuming, but I like the end result!

The "ground" is from SU's Gorgeous Grunge.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.  I'm working my way through my SU card stock and used their color wheel to help choose this color combo!

Tic Tac Toe Color Challenge

What a fun color challenge over at The Outlawz.  The hostess for this challenge came up with a Tic Tac Toe color board with some added twists thrown in!   Here is my card:

The row I chose were the colors black, blue and a violet.  The twists were to add bling and ribbon.   I also used some circle dis to create a round frame and labels die for the frame to sit on.  for added interest I used some embossing folders; one for the frame and the other for the background.  The stamped image is from an unknown source.

A Little Bit of Green

This is a busy week for me, so I'm a little behind in making cards for the challenges over at The Outlawz.   I'm off and running again, so this post will be short and sweet!

This card was for Monday greetings using a "little bit of green".

The image is from CC Designs, colored in with Copics.  The patterned paper is from The Stamps of Life.  I also used stitched rectangle dies from TSOL for the iage panel and the patterned paper panel.  The sentiment is from Paper Smooches.

Spring Has Sprung!

Spring has sprung!  Well at least it has in my stamp room.  These two spring themed cards were made for two different challenges at The Outlawz.

For the first challenge we were to simply make a spring themed card.  I chose an older stamp from SU in a set called Serene Spring.  I wasn't in the mood to color in the detailed image, so went with a monochromatic look by using ink and colored card stock.  The embossed background gives it some interesting texture.

For a different challenge we were to think of the sounds we hear in the spring and the twist was to add music notes to our design.  I used some music tissue paper from Tim Holtz which I wrapped around some white card stock.  This was matted onto black card stock to make it pop. By adding the birds I was able to use the remainder of a package of 3D stickers - woohoo!

My Fav Color Combo

My favorite color combo when making cards is kraft, white, red and black.  I've recently thought of only replenishing these colors in my card stock stash as I run out of colors.  Don't panic!  I have more than enough card stock in a rainbow of colors to last me many lifetimes and how sad is that?!!

I also have a lot of bling in my stash, thus using quite a bit here.  (I go through phases where I just want to use it all up...yeah, right!)

The impressive die cut background is a die from Taylored Expressions.  It's an older die that was collecting dust on the shelf.  After pulling it out I remembered why it was stuck way in the back!   I always had a heck of a time getting the die cut out of the die without tearing it.  But I've learned some tricks since purchasing this die, so it is no longer a problem, unless I forget to incorporate the tricks!  The tricks?  1.  Precision Base Plate  2.  Waxed paper  3.  Patience!

Slider Thank You Card

Sometimes when a I am given the green light to make an "anything goes" project for a card challenge, my brain totally shuts down and I can't think of what to make - too many possibilities!   This is what happened to me with the Monday challenge at The Outlawz.  It wasn't until Wednesday that an idea finally came forward thanks to THIS You Tube video.

These cards (I made two exactly alike!) are so easy and so much fun to make, but you all know how much I love interactive cards!

PI Heart Banner

Every once in a while I make a card that I absolutely love and this is one of them.    The stamp set Heart Banner from My Favorite Things was gifted to me by a very generous friend (waving hello Dorothy!).  She also gifted the matching die!   So kind and generous!

I used this adorable Pure Innocence  stamp set for the Wednesday sketch challenge at The Outlawz.  I colored it with Copics and also did some paper piecing for the dress and heart banner.  Difficult to see in the photo, but I added Stickles to her shoes, hair clip and the flower centers on her dress.

Although this card would make a sweet Valentine, I am going to send it to my granddaughter just because!

Heartfelt Happy Birthday

As I was making this card for the Tuesday color challenge at The Outlawz, I decided to make multiples and now have three of these in my birthday card stash!  This is a 5.5 x 5.5 square card using a corrugated kraft card base from Michaels.  They don't sell boxes of these cards any more, but I still have a few in my stash and will be sad when they are all gone.

The beautiful image is from Heartfelt Creations from their Sun Kissed Fleur collection.  I colored it in with Copics and then added Diamond Stickles to the flower centers.  The birthday greeting is a "drop in " die from Sizzix.  I hand stitched with some twine around the greeting and ended it with a small bow.  More Diamond Stickles  was used to sparkle up the letters.  This entire white panel was popped up with foam tape.  Yes, I cut thin slivers of foam tape to place behind all the narrow letters.  Time consuming, but worth it in the end!

CAS Sand Dollar

I dug deep into my stash to make this card.  The image is from an old SU set and the corner punch has been in my stash forever too.  This card was for the Sunday challenge at The Outlawz, which is to make a clean and simple card.  This time the theme was "in the sea".   I kept the color choice simple as well, using a classic color combo of black, gold and white.

A Card CASE

The card I'm sharing today is a CASEd card from one of Deb Valder's You Tube videos.  She is a coach for Fun Stampers Journey and obviously used products from there.   I used what I had in my stash, but was able to get a similar looking card.  (Hers is so much better!)  I wanted to CASE her card to get a feel for the different ways she layered the elements on her card.  These were ideas I never would have thought of on my own, but by actually doing it helps me to learn and remember new ideas for future cards.

The die I used is from MFT and the stamp I used is from SU.  The spray used on my card is by Heidi Swapp.   The butterfly die is unknown at the time of writing this post.
In Deb's example I loved how she layered the doily under the popped up die cut.  So I had to include that detail on my card too!   She both stamped and splattered on her card base and sun ray.  I just used spray and love the look of the spray on both the top and bottom layers.
